Falling stars: why making a wish brings luck?
Whenever you see a falling star it is inevitable to close your eyes and make a wish, even if we know that a simple shooting star cannot regulate our destiny. But why does the tradition remain that seeing a meteor splashing in the night sky brings good luck?
Shooting stars are somehow related to the word desire, which derives from the Latin Desiderum. Inside, the word contains de- and -sidus, that is star. In some way, therefore, it is a tradition linked to the ancient sailors who, orienting themselves only with the stars, were guided by their light.
