Quoting and citing on Steemit

Whenever you are inspired by a text or quote a passage from a book or website, you should label it appropriately. Otherwise, you run the risk of being accused of plagiarism. Remember that plagiarism is unacceptable in our community and steemit in general and is subject to severe penalties.

Quote

For a quote, use the">" command and include the text in "..."
Underneath, provide a link to the page cited or, if it is an excerpt from the book or someone else's words, indicate who the author is. Let's look at an example:

Inspiration

Sometimes we do not quote paragraphs literally, but the formation of thought in our head is significantly influenced by some source. If the inspiration relates to a specific sentence or paragraph, we mark the source right after the finished thought. If, however, the inspiration was used to write the post, but it does not involve any specific sentence, we can include it in the "sources" at the end of the publication.

Let's take a look at some examples:

  When we have problems with motion sickness, we often decide to 
travel on an empty stomach. However, this is not the best idea. It's 
best to eat a light meal beforehand. Do not overeat too much, but 
also do not go on the road being hungry

Instead of a link, we can insert the name of the cited book, a source from a movie, podcast or any other source. You can also list all your sources in a separate chapter at the end of the publication.

Inspiración
