ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION|LECTURE 1
Hello steemians!How are you doing today?. Welcome to my blog. In this article, I would like to introduce you to a four week course on environmental pollution. In this course, I would be treating the topics listed below.

This course is really important as it guides and educates us more about the harmful effect of pollution on our environment. In this first week of the four week course on environmental pollution, I will be introducing the topic. Read on and get enlightened.
The world suffers from various pollutant that conterminate the atmosphere and surrounding.This has been a serious issues as the world atmosphere are no longer convient for humans and living organisims in general. Various government around the world have identified this as a serious issue and are working hard together with researchers to discover ways, solutions to curb, reduce, minimize the effect of environmental pollution.
Environmental pollution is the release of toxic substances such as chemical into the environment. When substance are excess in the atmosphere the environment are greatly afeefted negatively. This in turn affect all living thing as the environment becomes very harmful for living organisims to live in.
There are three major types of pollution, Air,Water and land pollution. Other types of pollution include Noise pollution,Thermal pollution, light pollution, Radioactive contamination, plastic pollution. In this article,I will be treating the three major types of pollution which are Air pollution, water pollution and land pollution.
This is simply the release of harmful substances at and below the ground level. This substances are neither liquid or solid substances and are mostly garbages and constructional wastes. The main cause of land pollution are
- Littering(the improper disposal of wastes )
- Urbanization and construction; when materials such as bricks, woods, metals, and plastics which come from construction sites are not properly disposed.
- Mining: mining is simply the extraction of minerals, and geological material from the Earth surface. This also pollutes the land as the method use for extraction deplete the Earth natural resources and causes damage to the ground.
In other to minimize the effect of land pollution, here are some preventive measures to be taken to curb it harmful effects.
- The uses of pesticides and chemicals on the soil or land should be reduced and minimized. Natural manure such as animals wastes should be encouraged.
- Wastes substances should be properly disposed in sacks.
- Recycling of wastes product should be encouraged.
AIR POLLUTION
Air pollution is the release of harmful substances into the air. This substances are harmful to human health as well as other living organisims. Mostly air pollution comes froms the uses of energy. The burning of fossil fuels are the main cause of the release of gases and chemicals into the air. Carbon dioxide and methane are the main gases produced from the burning of fossil which in turn raise the Earth temperature. There are two main types of air poluution, smog and soot.
SMOG:
This occurs when emission from fossil fuels react with sunlight.
SMOOT:
This are usually made up of tiny part of smoke, soil, chemicals, dust that are carried in the air.

CONCLUSION
Mainly air pollutant comes froms burning of fossils fuels. Therefore the main ways to curb and minimize air pollution are
Increase the planting of trees: This is a very effective way of reducing air pollution as trees converts excess carbondoxides, methane and other combustion wastes to oxygen.
The use of renewable source of energy: The use of devices and machines which uses fossil fuels should be minimized, instead the uses of renewable source of energy should be encouraged and used.
Water pollution is simply the release of harmful substances such as chemicals, soild wastes into water bodies. This in turn make water for bodies harmful for living organisim inside them. Water bodies can be polluted by various substances such as organic wastes, toxic chemicals, radioactive sucstances.
This lecture is indeed very important as it educate is about the harmful effect of environmental pollution. In my next lecture post I will be treating the effects of environmental pollution. Keep in touch for my next lecture post.
