INTRODUCTION

When we talk of "subject", it is broad and has many meanings. But for the purpose of this discourse, a subject is seen as an area of study at a school or University. Back then in high school, I offered many subjects and among them some were fascinating, some were controversial and some others were touchy. The subject I hated most back in high school was biology.
I hated biology because the teacher of biology was not enthusiastic. He was not having passion to teach. It was as if he was forced to teach the subject. Our teacher was not a person who showed the passion or feeling of enthusiasm with the students. The spirit of enthusiasm left us (the students) especially meto the extent that the name of the subject alone was irritating to my ears. The teacher's looked like that of a beast looking for someone to devour, while he was in the class to teach.
Secondly, lack of understanding of what was taught. Understanding is a very vital in teaching/learning. Understanding also plays a very vital role in the performance of a student in general. My teacher of biology never taught us in a way we could comprehend. He never taught us to comprehend the concept of a particular topic in biology. He believed in the ideology of meeting up an expected target without considering if the students understood the topic or not. He was always talking like a rapper and expected us to follow the rhythm and pace. He also felt that everyone's understand was the same and any complain, you have yourself to blame.
Thirdly, I hated biology because of our teacher of biology, the thrown to him we're always unattended to. The worst mistake a student like me would have ever made back then was to ask him any question either base on what he had taught , was teaching or even out of context because the next move was insultive words from him. And when not careful, I would be beaten mercilessly. Then in school, he felt asking him questions meant that you were not attentive and his wasting his energy. He used to teach people he called "bunch of idiots". This alone even increased my hatred for biology as a subject. The biology teacher never possesses any quality of "a good teacher". It was as if he was just there for the salary.
However, I felt that biology was a subject that need not only the theory but practicals also. I understand that as a student, what you hear and see practically and demonstrations made by the teacher is what sticks to the head and it's hard to forget than all form of talks and speech. Our biology teacher never for once took us out for practical experience. "No to practicals" were his answers always and he felt that theory was the best even during daily life application.
Also his attitude of not been punctual to classes and skipping some of his biology lesson. Truancy was his character and identify. Many a times he was late for his lessons and when he eventually shows up, he teaches half hazardly and at his own pace, never minding how students feels. While sometimes he doesn't even attend classes at all. This contributed greatly not only to my hatred for the subject, but also to the massive failure of the entire class.
Furthermore, lack of note for proper consultation and understanding. The teacher of biology never gave notes to us. We were always asked to form notes ourselves which he never cared to check with us. Sometimes he could only showed a portion of the textbook to copy and paste even without making any effort to summarize it to us. It was so bulky and stressful even to understand. It was a tug of wat between the teacher and the whole class. Sometimes I felt like school was the worst this that happen to me at that time just because of the subject called biology and the teacher.
Finally, the test and examination questions given to us from biology were tough and so difficult to understand. Most of the questions were from the aspect of the subject he skipped and anyone who doesn't read that aspect will fail and the next thing was severe punishment. He never saw fault in whatever he did but always pushed the blame on all the students. I had a poor results in biology and that made me to hate "biology" as a subject.

CONCLUSION
Back then at the high school, it was a whole lot of stress and bad times. It was like walking through the fire or been drawn in a sea. When it was time for biology then, I felt like dying, going back to my house or the ground should just open on the spot and swallow me. I wished I had the power to change and control the teacher of biology. His presence was irritating and annoying. He was always looking shabby, tattered, scattered and confused. Everyone held grip with fear at his presence because it was hell itself.
It was such a terrible experience at the high school. I felt offering such subject was a total waste of time, energy and resources. It was all over and I prayed that proceed, never in my life will I meet a wicked and heartless teacher as our biology teacher.
