Greetings!

I am here again to present my homework for Graphic Design Lesson 2 which tackles about Illustration. As far as I am concern, I have experienced illustrating for a Kindergarten Books and High School Learning Materials.
But, anyway, here is my homework:

Define illustration in your own words.

• For me, illustration is an image that can be produced digitally or by hands used to communicate visual ideas to give information, advertise a product, and tell stories. Illustrations are important in graphic designs because it gives additional impact, aesthetic and artistic flavors, and helps in visual communication.

Mention and explain other types of illustration.

1. Pencil Illustration. It is a traditional method of illustrating ideas, using techniques such as shading, hatching or cross hatching, line art and many more. It can be produced using a graphite lead or color pencils. Examples include graphite portraits.
   

   
   
   

2. Pen and Ink Illustration. It is another traditional method of illustrating ideas noted for its characteristic to create images with precision, detailing and good contrasts. Hatching, cross hatching, stippling and other techniques can still be used in this type of illustration. Examples include editorial cartooning, pointilism, technical drawings and diagrams.
   

   
   
   

3. Vector Illustrations. It is a fast growing type of illustration today because of the technology. The best thing about vector illustrations is that you can zoom it in a very large scale without worrying about getting pixelated. Examples include web illustrations, digital logos, graphic images.
   

   

4. Digital Illustration. Another common type today is Digital Illustration. Artists use application softwares to produce digital images and manually draw or paint objects using a stylus pen or a tablet pen. Examples include digital portraits, digital paintings, and many more.

What is the difference between a graphic design and illustration?

Importance of Illustration

Illustrations are very important because it gives additional impact on graphic design. It scaffolds or helps the graphic design be more attractive, pleasing and impactful. There are so many people who are visual learners, so the illustrations can help them on processing what is stated, for example in a banner or infographics, etc. But, it is also important to note that the illustrations that will be used is appropriate for the design.
