Apart from the conveniences created by modern technology, there are also some modern difficulties that are being created by technology. Not just empty technology but something has some advantages or disadvantages. Similarly, technology is being used for both good and bad purposes. The technology of the day that is affecting the younger generation the most is social media. While it has some advantages for communication and entertainment, it also has many disadvantages that are causing great harm to the new generation just by ignoring them. Social media has applications like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Tik Tak, which have badly gripped the minds of the new generation. The grip of social media on the minds of the younger generation is so strong that their ability to think and understand is disappearing.
People from far away are getting closer to each other because of social media, of course. At the same time, the people who used to be close to each other before the advent of social media have moved far away from each other. Such as parents, spouses, children, siblings and friends.
If we go to any place where all these relationships are present, it is shocking to see that everyone is busy on their mobile. It is as if man is giving preference to machine over man, not only empty man but it has often been seen that man is also giving preference to machine ie computer and mobile over parents.
As the use of social media has increased, so has the rate of crime associated with it. Girls are tricked into making friends through social media and then called home and abused or killed. Such accidents are reported in the media on a daily basis. Lying, fraud, murder, financial fraud, etc. are all happening through social media. Similarly, the misuse of your photos shared on social media by criminals is also a big loss. Such images are later edited and used to blackmail people as well as to create fraudulent IDs. There have been many scams in the name of online shopping through social media. It often happens that something else is shown on social media. But after receiving the full price, the item is shipped of poor quality. Contacting the given address or mobile phone numbers later will also prove to be incorrect.
Due to the lack of government checks and balances on the use of Facebook, very misleading information about Islam is spread. Which on the one hand causes unrest in the society and on the other hand also spreads provocation among the people. It destroys the peace of society. The failure of the government to take action against such elements undermines public confidence in the government. Similarly, social media is also widely used for sectarianism. Due to lack of proper action, anti-social elements are fanning the flames of sectarianism across the country in the months of Muharram, Ramadan and Rabi-ul-Awal with complete freedom. This fire burns all year round and due to this fire many serious incidents like murder take place. The misinterpretation of Islam by the semi-literate and illiterate class is also a disadvantage that is tarnishing the image of Islam. Even such naive people who believe in misinterpretation of Islam due to their lack of knowledge have to bear the brunt of such losses. In this way, they manage not only their own world but also the destruction of the Hereafter. Atheism is being spread in Pakistan under an organized and well thought.
Students of major educational institutions in Islamabad are falling prey to atheism due to social media. But there is no plan or action to prevent it. In recent days, a gang was arrested from Bangladesh who used to lure girls to become tuck talk stars and smuggle them to India. And later he used to make them prostitute. The group admitted that it had smuggled more than a thousand girls to India. There is no policy on how many such groups are active in Pakistan and what is the strategy for their work. Social media is not bad, it makes things better or worse. If these evils are stopped by the government by making appropriate policies, then surely social media in Pakistan will be able to run in a safer environment.
