Coolie No.1 - Movie Review:

  • Director - David Dhawan
  • Cast - Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan, Javed Jaaferi, Paresh Rawal, Shikha Talsania
  • Release Date - 25 December 2020
  • Platform - Amazon Prime
  • My Rating - 2.5/5

Today I am reviewing the Coolie No.1 movie, which is a remake of the same Coolie No.1 film released in 1995. Very few people know that the original Coolie No.1 was already a remake of the Telugu film ‘Chinna mapillai’. New Coolie No. 1 is released this Christmas on Amazon Prime. It's a comedy genre film, which in the lead role has Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan.

Character’s Name

  • Varun Dhawan - Raju
  • Sara Ali Khan - Sarah
  • Paresh Rawal - Jeffrey Rozario
  • Javed Jaaferi - Jai Kisan
  • Shikha Talsania - Anju

Story Line

Jeffrey Rozario (Paresh Rawal ) is looking for a rich groom for his daughters and in order to achieve that he insulted a matchmaker Jai Kisan (Javed Jaaferi) who brings the match of a poor groom to him.

Jeffrey Rozario Insults Jai Kisan so badly that Jai Kisan pledges that he’ll get Jeffrey Rozario’s daughters married to a poor boy, who can show him his place and can destroy his ego.

Raju(Varun Dhawan) luckily found a picture of Sarah(Sara Ali khan) and fell in love with her. Jai Kisan the matchmaker meets Raju(Varun Dhawan) who is a Coolie (Porter) at the railway station and gets very impressed by him. He disguises Raju as a very rich person and gets successful in fooling Jeffrey Rozario (Paresh Rawal ). Raju(Varun Dhawan) and Sarah (Sara Ali Khan) got married and now the story is about how Raju saves his marriage by doing various tricks.

Varun Dhawan’s acting is very irritating as the whole time he tries to copy Govinda and fails very badly at it. Sara Ali Khan also disappoints with her overacting. Paresh Rawal’s acting was good but what he could have done with the dialogues given to him. This movie has it’s own funny moments but overall it fails to impress.

Comparison with the original movie is useless because c’mon it has Govinda(actor), the best of all time, his natural comic timing is unmatchable.

Hilarious Scene: Varun Dhawan running on the roof of a moving train to save a child will make you cringe and shout Whyyyy such a script was needed???

Songs & Music: No Creativity

It’s a no brainer movie like many other Bollywood movies but for entertainment, you can give it a one time watch.

Thank you!

Oh, God! Just finished watching this. Like why was that scene even needed? They had already established that he is the hero by beating the egoistic drug dealer at the very beginning of the movie.

At least if the editing of this scene was done right, it would have been less cringy. The whole scene seemed like it was rushed or edited by a college kid who just got his hands on Finalcut Pro.

I like the way act Rajpal Yadav in this movie as weasel. And Varun's double role. That is really hilarious scene when Varun save that kid. All songs are very good. Overall it's one time watchable movie.

I too just finished this movie and I was laughing, seeing the way these people were acting.

The most surprising thing was why Javed Jaffrey as a pundit in this picture, casting is wrong.lol

Old coolie no.1 movie far beter than this shit
