Department of Petroleum (ministry) approves revised project costs of Rs 28,026 crore for Numaligarh Refinery

This will be the single largest investment in North East India.The Union Department of Petroleum & Natural Gas has approved a revised Rs project. 28,026 thousand of the Numaligarh Continuous Refinement Expansion Project to increase the refining capacity from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA.

The original 6th MMTPA planning has been redesigned and upgraded to make ready Petrochemical, focusing on rehabilitating Refinery residues using new Ebullated Bed Residue technology
Hydro-Treater and the maximum size of the Petro-FCC unit.

According to the NRL with the adoption of State of the Art technology in the preparation and addition of more complex schemes such as residue hydrocracking, the refinery will be able to process Crude Oil hard and increase distillate production. This adoption of technology has resulted in an increase in project costs from Rs. 22,594 Crore went to Rs. 28,026 thousand.

NRL has extended the intervening time between the actual refinement of the Extension Strategy and the current market situation, the NRL has taken advantage of the maturity of Residue Upgradation Technology and the assurance of Natural Gas availability to review these adjustments.

The configuration and design of the units are intended to achieve the best possible performance in the classroom in the measurement of public power. the increase in distillate yields, the NRL will also be able to increase its LPG production, thus completely eliminating LPG shortages in the North-Eastern region.
