Nipah virus

in Best of India3 years ago

Corona has caused havoc in the world. As the second wave in India came to an end, there were fears of a third wave in Kerala. While new corona infections are being reported daily in Kerala, Nipah is once again on the rise. A 12-year-old boy has fallen victim to the disease.

Nipah is a virus that is transmitted from animals to humans. Traces of this virus are formed in bats. Pigs, dogs and horses are also more likely to be infected. Nipah has different symptoms. Meningitis, persistent cough with fever and shortness of breath. Mild or acute respiratory tract infections, fever, headache, joint pain, vomiting, sore throat, dizziness, and in some cases people are at risk of pneumonia.
Nipah virus is transmitted through contact with infected animals. People who are in constant contact with animals have the highest risk of contracting the disease. There is a risk of infection if you eat the bitten fruit of a bat filled with the virus or if you eat contaminated fruit from a tree where the bats live. It is important to wash your hands regularly with soap to avoid Nipah. Wash and eat fruits brought from the market.
There is currently no vaccine on Nipah. Laboratories have been shown in the laboratory to be effective against ribavirin. But it has not yet been sealed in human trials. Nipah can be diagnosed through RT-PCR. PCR and virus isolation tests are also performed.
So far, Nipah has spread to Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh and India.

Yes I heard about Nipah and it seems like the virus is worst than the corona. I hope that it does not spread. Lets see if the kerala contains the virus or not instead of spreading it in rest of the india. Hopefully they would control it.
