Greetings good people of Best of India community. My name is hidraslick, I saw this contest posted and couldn’t resist because this is one of my favorite hobbies. The link to the contest is the following: https://steemit.com/hive-196725/@bestofindia/best-of-india-contest-or-your-favorite-anime-or-open-for-everyone-or-30-steem-prize-pool, please follow it if you want to participate. Also I want to thank @bestofindia for this contest and to opportunity to participate in it.

Since I love anime I have many favorites and many number ones, but I’ll talk about the first anime that changed my perception about the world of anime, Ghost in the Shell. A very well-known anime. It was created by mangaka Masamune Shirow, creator of other well-known pieces of art like Appleseed and Dominion. It has many material adapted, based on Shirow’s manga (four movies, two series, ovas (Original Video Animation), videogames, among other stuff). For this post I chose one of those series, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, a 2002-2003 futuristic Science fiction and cyberpunk anime.

Written and directed by Kenji Kamiyama and produced by Production I.G, Stand Alone Complex is set in a futuristic and technological world in the year 2030, where the real world and the cyber world are intertwined more deeply than in our own. The series has a total of 26 episodes, followed by a 26 episodes sequel series called Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG, a 105 minutes ova called Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society and a third series of 24 episodes made with help from Netflix called SAC_2045 (still in emission). All the series has incredible 2d visuals and designs with some CGI in the mix (Except for SAC_2045 which is made using fully 3d designs).

Story:

The story and follows the adventures of Mayor Motoko Kusanagi and the Public Security Section 9, a special police unit of the Japanese government, which is composed by a variety of peculiar members that solves cases that nobody else can. The cases nature vary from catching corrupt politicians, solve serious cybercrimes and protection of VIPs, to catching a elusive hacker/serial killer known as The Laughing Man.

Themes:

The series treats various things within its chapters. Things like: human nature, what defines a human, humanity's technology dependence, evolution, A.I (Artificial Intelligence), cyber security, politics, corruption, war, economy, immigration, terrorism, among others; and mixes all that with a science fiction/cyberpunk setting, thrilling action (gunfights, close quarter combat, persecutions), intrigue, romance, friendship and other things.

Main Characters:

Motoko Kusanagi (Aka Mayor):

A full body cyborg that gained her rank in the Japan Ground Self Defense Force. Serves as the head of the Section 9 team; military trained, has a vast expertise in weapons and tactics, it's also an expert in cyberwafare and hacking (a Wizard class hacker). She uses her abilities to solve crimes, and also wants to understand what makes a human what it is.

Batou Buttetsu:

A full body cyborg and an ex-military ranger trained in a vast array of weapons and tactics. He is the second in command in Section 9 unit behind Major Motoko Kusanagi, and also the second best melee fighter behind her as well.

Togusa:

An ex-police detective recruited into Section 9. He's the only member who hasn't gone through cyborg replacement (parts or full body, though he has a cyberbrain). He uses his "old school" police abilities to help the team solve the various cases present in the series. He's married and is father to a girl.

Other characters are: Chief Aramaki, Pazu, Borma, Saito, Ichikawa, the tachikomas (tanks that have an A.I) and others.

Closing Words:

To finish I would like to say, this is a really awesome anime and I recommend it to anyone who asks me about anime. It is a very complete anime with characters development and realistic personalities, also analyses social and philosophical issues, and does it in a way the watcher can understand. And I would like to say to people that dislike anime and discard it for being childish to take a look at good works and see them for what they are: works of art.

10% of the beneficiary reward goes to bestofindia.
