Contest: Write a Short Story Taken From Your Life | The unforgettable: @titi7
This happened long ago, but I still can't forget a single moment. It was a rainy season back then, we experienced lots of heavy rains. Activities barely went as scheduled. It was good for some people and bad for others. We were kids back then, so we had nothing to worry about. When ever the clouds darkens, the environment changes, you could see people and animals in a perplexed state, moving haphazardly all over the place. "The rain is coming ,the rain is coming". they will cry whiles running. My friends and I always sat under a straw tent behind my house, enjoying and admiring the dark rain clouds. Rainy days were special days for us. One day, just like any other rainy day, we sat under the straw tent admiring the environment. One of us suggested we should play paper boat.
We rushed to the house, took pieces of papers, made paper boats, sat under our straw tent waiting for the rain to subside; so we could play with our paper boats in the near by river. Some few minutes later, the rain subsided, we rushed outside , running and jumping towards the river with joy, we finally got there and the play begun. Accidentally one of my friends fell into the river. I was shocked and frozen, I couldn't move, it was like a dream to me. I was very scared. He struggled to come out but the speed and power of the water was too much for him. Suddenly, one of my friends who was a little bit older and stronger than us grabbed him as he was being ccarried away by the water , he shouted at as saying, "come fast and help me pull him" we all rushed there and pulled him out. We were happy but still scared, he was shocked , shivering and couldn't walk well. We sent him to his house and met only his brother. His brother kept him on the bed and covered him with a blanket. His brother told us we could leave, but we insisted to stay for a while, so he allowed us. We sat beside the bed hoping our friend will wake up safe and sound. after almost an hour he woke up , and guess what, the first thing he did was simile and laughed; we all rushed towards and gave him a warm hug. We discussed what happened , made fun at him and laughed together. It was a very good day but a terrifying one, a day we will never forget.
I want to use this opportunity to thank @abuahmad for such wonderful contests.
