THE WEIGHT THAT SLOWS DOWN
"THEREFORE, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, LET US STRIP OFF EVERY WEIGHT THAT SLOWS US DOWN, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And LET US RUN WITH ENDURANCE THE RACE GOD HAS SET BEFORE US."
Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)
• Whatever blessing that would not enhance your communion with God and your effectiveness in the work or assignment given to you, by God, has become a weight.
- If the supposed blessing of God is making you lag behind in whatever you are given to do, such a blessing has become a weight that is weighing you down—dragging you back in your assignment or ministry.
- God would not give you whatever you are not mature enough to handle, what would cause you to be unfaithful or indolent or slothful in whatever you are assigned to do.
- It is better that such a thing or blessing is taken from you until you are mature enough, or you are able to prove responsible to handle such a blessing—that It might no longer be an hindrance to whatever He, God, has instructed you to do.
• A weight which is weighing down or slowing down or cumbering a believer might not be a Sin really, It might be a legitimate thing or a necessary thing or blessing which the believer ought to have; but If the person does not know how to handle it, It could become a weight, instead of being a blessing that enhances.
- The legitimacy of it is not the issue with God, It is about the impact or effect of it on your Christian life and the assignment given to you.
- Does the supposed blessing that ought to enhance or help your effectiveness in the ministry or assignment given to you, has become an hindrance or a weight that is causing you to lag behind, or be ineffective? If it does, God would not hesitate to do something about it—withdraw It!
- If the thing or the supposed blessing had become counterproductive;
tending to hinder the attainment of a desired goal, not producing the desired result, or becoming a barrier to your speed in the work you do, the ministry or assignment, God will not hesitate to remove it or take it from you; until you could prove to Him that you are mature enough to handle it. - Whatever is weighing you down in the spiritual exercises or causing you to be distracted or focusless in the ministry the work that is given to you; would definitely be taken or withdrawn—for you to be effective in whatever you are assigned to do.
- Proving responsible in the sight of God is all about being able to control or manage whatever you are blessed with, juxtaposes with the work or assignment or ministry given to you.
- Whatever the blessing given to you, no matter how important or necessary It might seem to be; If it does not help your spiritual life or spirituality, and your effectiveness in the ministry or assignment given to you; such has become a weight, It would have to be taken or withdrawn from you by God.
• Having success or comfort or material blessing is not an issue or a problem with God, but the ability to manage the success or blessing in relation with whatever He wanted you to do.
- It does not cost God anything to bless you with abundance of material things; money, good things of life, or whatever, but the question is, Would you be able to manage them, the material things, that they would not become an hindrance or a barrier to your spiritual growth, and the effectiveness in the work which He, God, wanted you to do?
- This is an issue with many believers and the reason why God could not and would not be able to bless them as His Heart wishes to do.
- They have not proved responsible in some of the little little blessings God had blessed them with, thus, He is hesitant in blessing them the more. Because the little He had done for or given to them has not produced a good result in their lives; in their Walk with Him, God, and in the works or assignments, or ministries given them to fulfill, for Him—God.
- Thus, for a believer to perpetuate whatever blessing given to him or her by God, they should have a better sense that the blessing should not be a barrier or encumber them or weigh them down in whatever work they are doing for God or His Kingdom.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
- Should there be any ailment in your body, receive your healing now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
- Whatever is not of God in your body, working against your health and effectiveness in whatever you do for Him, such is cursed and completely uprooted in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Peace!
STEPS TO SALVATION
• Take notice of this:
IF you are yet to take the step of salvation, that is, yet to be born-again, do it now, tomorrow might be too late (2 Corinthians 6:1,2; Hebrews 3:7,8,15).
a. Acknowledge that you are a sinner and confess your Sins (1 John 1:9); And ask Jesus Christ to come into your life (Revelation 3:20).
b. Confess that you believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that you confess it with your mouth, Thus, you accept Him As your Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9,10).
c. Ask that He will write your name in the Book of Life (Philippians 4:3; Revelation 3:8).
- If you took the steps As highlighted above, It means you are saved—born-again. Join a Word based church in your area and Town or city, and be part of whatever they are doing there. Peace!
