The Diary Game[ 31/10/2024]// A trip to the refugee’s Camp in Borgop.
Steem greetings from my home country Cameroon to you all in this blockchain. It’s another opportunity for me to share with you how my day unfolded .Today 31/10/3024 is my off day from work. Some of colleagues and I have planned to visit the Borgop refugees camp located in Adamaoua region .Hosting refugees from centeral Africa .
The Borgop refugees came is located at the outskirts of Ngaoundere region .From my place of work the distance it about 180km to reach in Borgop . This particular small village shares boundary with abit of distance with centeral Africa . Central Africa has been experiencing rebels attacks with in the country for serval years now .
Rendering many part of Central African population homeless .Majority of them have flee to cameroon borders where they are been hosted by the Cameroon government and non governmental organizations .My colleagues and I had already planned for a trip to this area today .To visit Borgop refugees camp and have some time spend with them .
We had to take motorbikes early inthe morning at 9:00am, because Vehicles hardly goes there but only humanitarian vehicles. Therefore, mostly people use but motorbikes to go there .The distance is abit far for about 3hours to reach this place .Exactly at 11:30am we arrived at Borgop villiage .The environment was very new to me and really lovely .
I thought I will see refugees living in tents made of papers but that was not the case more than 1 thousand huts build for refugees to stay there .The alignments of these huts are so beautiful, where they are living there is so beautiful . Inorder and well built designed patterns for the refugees camp.
Non governmental organizations like @ plan Cameroon, Medical core , RAGJ, UNCHER,WFP etc . have really worked hard and supported these refugees by providing them with humanitarian assistance . Most especially health services .A small clinic is built for them in case of health problems by refugees .
The Borgop refeguees camp is hosting more than 10 thousand refugees. Most of them have intergrated with each other living a communal life . Primary schools have been built for these refugees children to encourage education .While there, I learned @plan Cameroon has helped more than 500 refugee children by providing their needs and school fees .To study in secondary in towns . I was happy to visit the market center of the refugee at Borgop .
Many of the refugees have engaged in trade and other actives to empower themselves. Not only depending on humanitarian assistance.Thess encouraged my colleagues and I to buy some of things they were selling to support them .The last section we visited was the meat vendors section .All these businesses here inthe market are done by refugees. We could not past without buying meats from them .
One think I notice is that despite, of the humanitarian assistance given to these refugees in Borgop .Majority of them are still vulnerable and suffering .We learned some of them do not want to empower themselves but only depend solely on the assistance given by the governments and NGO,s .We ended up buying roasted meat soya to eat from a seller .
One thing I like about the Borgop refugees is that they are very clean and welcoming to strangers .We brought some sweet ,biscuits etc. We shared to kids we meet there .Unfortunately I didn’t take some pictures with some these refugees there. Around 3:00pm ,We had to leave back to our base with my colleague.
We had about 3hours on way to our destination .Later after a successful tripe we arrived back to our location at 6:00pm .Immediately I went straight to my place and most say the trip to the Refugees Camp in Borgop was a great one and we’ll spend.
What a memorable day, hoping to visit the next refugees camp again in Ganwe. See you people in my next diary session.
