The Diary Game 30/08/2021 : Ghost town Traditional wedding Celebration

in Steem Cameroon3 years ago

Hello my fellow steemians it is with great pleasure that I bro g to you my diary game for the day.
So today was a very unique and memorable Monday unlike like most Mondays for me. Normally my mondays are spent at home, doing laundry, cleaning around the compound, cooking and resting. But this particular Monday was one with a difference because after doing all my household chores very early in the morning I had the opportunity to witness live a traditional wedding ceremony and it was such a a wonderful experience.

So normally in Cameroon traditional weddings happen in the late evening till late at night but given the level of insecurity facing our two English speaking Regions such celebrations are done in day time.
So for this particular one I attended, the ceremony began by 1pm with the arrival of all invited guests. To start the ceremony the father of the bride gave a heart warning welcome address to everyone present for this ceremony and the ceremony began. The elderly women from the brides side were asked to bring the bride, so thee danced in with a bride all covered from head to toe unrecognisable. When they arrived the stage they asked the groom to come and take his bride, he obeyed but surprisingly on unveiling the bride he discovered that it wasn't his bride and rejected the bride and the women were once more asked to go and bring the bride. All the women started asking for transport fare to go get the new bride it was so funny and they all refused to move a muscle till they were given enough money by the grooms family. Then they came in with the second bride and again it wasn't the bride, so the groom's family had to give them money to go bring another bride, this was so frustrating yet so entertaining as the women brought up so many flimsy excuses to get money from the groom's family. Then for the third time they came again with a bride all covered and behold it was the bride, on seeing his bride the groom was over the moon, smiling from tooth to tooth.

At this juncture the father of the bride came on stage and spoke words fo blessings to his daughter and son in law, the mother of the bride did same and they both handed over their daughter officially to her husband and his family. It was a moment full of happy emotions, the head of the grooms family gave a word of appreciation and the feast bagan.

The elderly women from the brides family came on stage again with some tradional stools for the bride and groom, ushered them to sit, bright some food, our famous fufu corn and kahti kahti and showed the new bride how she would have to feed her husband henceforth it was such a beautiful sight. Then a traditional dance group came and performed for the guest it was amazing. After this the couple cut their wedding cake and it was it was time for item 11.
We all ate and drank to our fill and danced and made merry. After this I returned home.

Hello good evening mam...
This is a great write up with good pictures. Traditional weddings in Cameroon are so exceptional and interesting. Reading through your write up, I love the part where the man is to unvail his bride and different ones are brought out, it occurs in almost all traditional weddings here, but it's fun too and mostly done not for personal reasons which people don't understand but to make the occasion nice and put smiles on the audience and guest.
Hope you had a great time. Stay safe

Interesting😅.
Let it never happen to someone that on going back to get the real bride after the first failed attempt, she is no where to be found.
I so love our culture.
