500 flower Trees donated to GBHS Mendakwe to commemorate the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought
Today June 17 is being celebrated as World Day to Combat Desertification And Drought under the theme Restoration. Land. Recovery and in a bid to contribute in fight against Desertification and Drought in the North West Region of Cameroon, @thegreens have donated 500 ornamental flower trees to the Environmental Club of Government Bilingual High School Mendakwe.
The plants were acquired by @mr-greens from a partner plant dealer and worth over 25 SBD.
He carried the 500 plants in his car and on his way joined staff of the Regional Delegation of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development for the region, together with whom they presented the donation to the environmental club of the school.
@mr-greens, Founder/Executive Director of the @thegreens further pledged to support the Environmental Club of GBHS Mendakwe with 9500 ornamental trees and flowers as well as be a patron of the Environmental Club. He pledged to serve as a mentor and role model to the club and promised the second consignment of flowers and ornamental trees before the 25 of June.
The Environmental Club President, a High School Student of the institution thanked @thegreens and pledged their commitment to transform the School into a Green School.
The Greens is a grassroots environmental organization that strives to educate, inspire and engage young people to take action to combat climate change and be at the forefront of biodiversity conservation and waste management.
