Introduction

National or International Awareness Days are special dates commemorated to observe important global or local issues. These days are often used to raise awareness, promote action, and carry out community-driven campaigns. Many of these observances are established by national governments or international bodies like the United Nations (UN), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and others.

This year, we are focusing on a particular awareness day, and participants will follow the guide below to take part in the celebration and raise awareness.

World Braille Day : Design Your Mascot!

In celebration of World Braille Day this week, we invite you to showcase your creativity by designing a unique mascot that embodies the power of Braille and accessibility for all! Your mascot should represent the spirit of inclusivity, education, and empowerment. It will symbolize the importance of Braille in promoting independence and equality for individuals with visual impairments.

Once you’ve designed your mascot, break it down into four key parts and explain the significance of each. Each part should represent a different aspect of Braille, its history, and its impact on your community.

Let’s celebrate the legacy of Braille by expressing our creativity and raising awareness together!

How to Participate

  • Draw Your Mascot, and give a short understanding of Braille and accessibility

Make a drawing of your mascot. Feel free to choose any character, animal, or symbolic figure that represents Braille and accessibility. Use any colors, textures, or styles that resonate with you.

  • Break It Down into Four Parts:

Identify four key parts of your mascot. For example, you might divide the mascot into a head, body, arms, and legs. You could also focus on particular features like hands, eyes, or accessories that add meaning.

  • Explain Each Part:

Provide a brief explanation (under 150 words per part) of what each part of your mascot represents. How does it reflect Braille, accessibility, or inclusivity?
