THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT

in Steem Cameroon3 years ago (edited)

Hello steem world, greetings and hope you all are doing great.
We have been having challenges and complains about the change of our climate. Many are not aware that it’s as a result of human activities that have led to greenhouse effect. I will love to share with you what I found out today as my research as a climate activist.

The greenhouse is a natural system that regulates temperatures on the earth. Just like a normal glass regulate and keeps heat on a glasshouse, our atmosphere traps the suns heat near the earth troposphere via heat trapping gases.

These gases include :
• CO2: the significant greenhouse gas release from human activities most especially burning of fossil fuels, bush fires and it’s the highest contributor of climate change
• water vapor: this gas is common and it’s gotten from the evaporation of water from surface bodies. Some are produced naturally while others by human actions.
• methane: this one is produce when there is no oxygen presence. It’s gotten from garbage dumps, rice farms, grazing areas and other animal rearing.

• Nitrous oxides: this one is released as a result of chemical fertilizers and manure being use in agriculture.

All these gases are known as greenhouse gases. They allowed short waves to penetrate and reach the surface then prevents out going radiation by their mode of absorption.
The earth is heated from the sun and most of this energy passes via these gases in the atmosphere to warm the earth surface. To keep the energy budget balance, the warm earth also release heat energy known as long waves back to space as infrared radiation. This heat is refuse from escaping to space by these greenhouse gases thus increasing the worlds temperatures.
Moreover, most of the energy recycled downward thus making surface temperatures more warmer than if the greenhouse gases were absent from the atmosphere.

This natural process is called the greenhouse effect. If these gases were not there the earths average temperatures would have been 19•C instead of a +10•C colder.
Over the past thousand years, the relative amount of these greenhouse gases in the atmosphere have been so stable. This is because of the human influence as their concentration have been increasing due to the high demand of energy and by industrialization and increase world population.

Interesting write-up on greenhouse gases and the commonly known greenhouse effect. We really need to take to caution the little things we do that enhances greenhouse effect and also put more effort in doing the little things that can mitigate this process and make our planet a better Earth for us. It would be nice to see you participate on the greendeeds weekly contest organized by @thegreens so together we can sensitize people on how to manage our environment.

Thanks so much for taking time to read my article. I will do just that and will love to do all my best to advocate for a stop to the production of GHS’s and climate change as a whole

This brings me a better understanding of the green house effect. Its causes , consequences and the remedy.this is so beautiful .we can make the world carbon free by planting more trees.

That’s true and most especially we need to change first our mental attitude for a better sustainability

Woow great write up bro. You have made me have a better understanding about the Greenhouse and it's effects then with its remedies.

Thanks so much for sharing this great information with us
