The diary game 07/04/22: Double meetings including cholera vaccination by @shance-light

Hello everyone, hope we are waxing strong, its been a busy period for me and especially today. I had 2 meetings to attend on the same day.

I woke up this morning at about 6am not feeling too well but these 2 meetings are very important such that i couldn't absent. I struggled to do my regulars and got set for the meeting. I sluggishly carried myself to muea where we had both meetings.

The first meeting was about our general EPI monthly report. This is a report we generally submit every month.
Normally as a health facility, we carryout vaccination activities which means we vaccinate children according to our EPI calendar. So every month, we gather to give feedback and report on how many children that were vaccinated.
This meeting is usually very lengthy as we are about 12 health facilities under Muea health area so to gather all yhe reports is not always easy as some will be giving wrong figures and getting confused especially those coming for their first time as the report sheet isn't something to easily understand.

Our EPI meeting started at about 9am and continued to about 11:30am where we had to continue with the other meeting.

The Second meeting
Luckily for me, both meetings were held in the same environment which was CMA Muea. CMA Muea is a government hospital based in Muea and its one of the most prominent hospitals in that area. Thus it is considered as a health area. Which means, it heads other health facilities. Most health area trainings or meetings are done in this facility.

This second meeting was very important as its the core solutions or prevention of the epidemic in town.

This se cond meeting was on cholera vaccine.
Here we were taught about the vaccine, its presentation, its routes of administration, and so on.
The main aim of this meeting was to educate vaccinators as they move into the field for the cholera vaccination campaign.
The name of the vaccines is called *Cholera oral Vaccine
Its a vaccine taken by oral routes and its first does gives immunity for at least 6months. If the second dose is taken within 2 weeks, it can give immunity up to 2 years. But due to the nature of things, there may be just a single or first dose campaign as this campaign is targeted towards the high risk population which includes molyko, mile 14, 15, 16 and 17, bomaka and Muea. This campaign will be focused on just this few areas.
These are areas that have been affected most in Buea health district. Offcourse vaccination will also be in Limbe and other affected areas even though it may be happening on different days.
Its a stressful exercise but we have to do this for our community. Yhis campaign will run for 5 days. Get yourself vaccinated.
BE FREE FROM CHOLERA
Please note that vaccination is one type of the preventive measures and not yhe only or the best preventive measure as hygiene still stand out as the best preventive measures against cholera
