Hello steem greetings to everyone in here reading this post. Hope you all are doing just fine as always. Today I will be doing my creative writing on my traditional meal and how it is been prepared.

Tradition is a belief followed by humans for some reasons they best understand and for their purpose. A traditional meal is a meal eaten by a group of people and they are generally considered by others. In Cameroon, there are different traditional dishes eaten in different regions. Types of traditional meal are many due to different cultures but I will be talking on my traditional meal which is Fufu corn and jamajama with Kati Kati.

  • Fufu corn and huckle berry with "karti karti"(rosted chicken fried with red oil) for North westerners.
  • plantain or batong and ndule
    For North westerners, they eat the fufu and "karti karti"(rosted chicken fried with red oil) on special occasions like traditional marriages and death ceremonies etc. It is prepared as follows

The huckleberry/"karti karti"

Huckleberry : The huckleberry is prepared before the fufu and i will be exsplainning the steps in point forms bellow.

  • firstly it is being picked(selected) after harvesting from the farm
  • After picking or selecting which is done by the hands. Picking separates the stem and the required eaten part.
  • After that, the huckleberry is being washed with clean water and after washing we cook and it's red oil added into it with eguci making sure that the eguci should not scatter but should be in small small bonchies and is being dished in a traditional dish....

For karti karti,,,

  • A contri chicken is being taken commonly known as " contri fowl" or an agric fowl which is being roasted to remove the feathers and cut into pieces of required sizes.
  • oil is being pre heated that is red oil in a pot, salt added and the pieces of chicken mixed together to form karti karti.

Fufu

  • Water is being boiled in respect to the quantity of the corn flour needed to use.

  • the corn flour is sieved as water boils.

  • After the water is boiled, the chaffs of the sieved flour is being mixed inside cold water or better still collect the sieved flour and mix in cold water and then put inside the boiled water and stir, when it boils again for close to 30 minutes for it to get ready to be prepared so when it gets ready to prepare the fufu , you put the corn flour now inside the pot and prepare using a bamboo to cook the fufu. After it is ready you can use banana leafs to tie the fufu there but some people use plastic papers to tie the fufu inside.

  • Then finally your fufu, huckleberry and karti karti is ready to be eaten. Thanks
