Increase in the Price of Wheat Flour Pushes Cameroonians to Produce their own Wheat

It is often said that when there is scarcity and an increase in demand, there will be a corresponding increase in price too. This has been the case in Cameroon with the scarcity of wheat flour among other commodities. At some point, consumers of products made out of wheat flour discovered that there was an increase in the prices of bread, cakes, other fries and pastries. This was because there was an increase in the price of wheat flour. It's vendors told the buyers that, there was scarcity of wheat flour in the market and that is why bi-products of it became expensive as well.
Preparing wheat grains for cultivation
Many are those who believe that,the increase in the price of wheat flour has been caused by the war between Ukraine and Russia. Critics in Cameroon have been questioning why Cameroon has to be buying wheat flour when most of its regions can produce it. Cameroon spends millions of Franc CFA to import wheat flour but soon the story will change. There is a Cameroonian by Name Tata Basilus who has been into wheat production for a few years in the village of Oku in the North West Region of Cameroon. His activities as far as wheat production is concerned just came into the lamp light. According to him oku alone can produce hundreds of tones of wheat grains in the uplands of the area,thanks to it favourable climatic conditions.
This guy's activities have have inspired alot of Cameroonians to get involved in wheat cultivation this farming year. There is hope that Cameroon is going to be able to produce, process and supply it's own wheat flour to fellow Cameroonians at a most affordable price.In Oku village alone ,close to 50 farmers have joined in for wheat production.It is one of the products that I personally know how to cultivate. But due to lack of space and for security reasons I am planning on establishing my wheat farm in 2023. I have joined Mr Tata Basilus for the moment, to train interested persons in wheat farming or on how to go about the production process works, both physically and online.
