TOPIC: MY PARENTS, MY HEROES.
Hello steemains, I'm glad to be here @steemcameroon. Also glad for the opportunity given to everyone to participate irrespective of their country.
INTRODUCTION
MEANING OF PARENTHOOD.
In my own words, parenthood is a state of being a parent, a state of exhibiting parental responsilities.
I have grown to see my parents fulfill their responsibilities as parents to me and my sibilings. These range from providing food, clothes, shelter, protection e.t.c.
Since I was born till date, they have never failed in their parenting and I owe it all to them.
MY PARENTS AS MY HEROES
I always tell my friends and colleagues that my greatest heroes are my parents. They have played heroic roles that have left me amazed. Right from when my father was alive. He treated me and my siblings as his only asset. When we were kids,he bathes, us feeds us, takes us to school and helps us do our homework. He always wakes us up very early in the morning, calls everyone in the family for morning devotion.
I have learnt how to pray from my father. We have never failed praying in the morning and at night as a family. This has really helped in building and strengthening my spirit man. As my pastor would say: "A non-praying man is a dying man." Which means, if you do not inculcate in you a praying habit you are vulnerable to attacks and death. So, I thank my parents for inculcating a praying habit in me.
I call my parents heroes because they are always up and out to give us the protection we need. I can remember when thieves attacked us at night. I and my siblings
trembled but my mom and dad covered us like a mother hen covering her chicks in her feathers. Even when they shot and beat other tenants, they didn't harm us because they were amazed at the way mom and dad kept us behind and stood out in the front to face the thieves so that they won't harm us. I can recall the words of one of the thieves. He said: "ha! Oga, na you get all these children, hmm you really try oo to take care of them."
And they left without hurting any of us.
Indeed they are great heroes.
When dad died, mom took over his responsibilities. She played both fatherly and motherly roles. We werw very young and tender when dad passed. Mom single handedly sponsored five of us in all levels of education with zero debt. To the glory of God we are all graduates courtsey of Mom. I always admire her strength and courage. Even when Dad's peole wanted to chase us out of our house, in order to take the house, my Mom stood her ground and fought for what was rightfully hers and succeeded. Wow!, She's a heroine . I always wish to be like her, even stronger than her.
MAJOR ROLES OF PARENTS
Major roles of parents to me are:.
Provision of food
Provision of shelter
Provision of clothes,
Ensuring protection
Paying school fees and
Inculcating good morals in their children.
DO YOU SEE PARENTHOOD AS SCAM?
Capital NO .. Parenthood is not and will never be a scam because it gives parents a sense of responsibility and there is always a reward for good parenting by God.
Such reward could be; staying alive to enjoy the friut of your labour.
IN CONCLUSION:
I urge every parent to keep at their good parenting because their children see them as their role model and heroes.
So, thrive to be the best hero you can.
