Steemit Engagement Challenge Season5 Week2 : My Medical Experiences

in Steem Cameroon2 years ago (edited)
Steem greetings to us all, I'm really excited to have been invited to take part in this challenge by @chant. I'm glad to share my experience.

Are you afraid of any medical instrument?

I am very afraid of syringes and surgical blades. As far as I can remember my fear for syringes started way back when I was a preschooler. While that of surgical blade is a recent fear which I developed during a surgery.

Are you afraid of any medical specialist? To which? we would like to know why.

I had an experience with my daughter 2years back which led me to think that sometimes general practitioners(GP) are better than a specialist. I went to see a pediatrician when my daughter had a cold and fever. She was just 3weeks old then. In my mind, I expected the pediatrician to take the baby from me and examine her.

Unfortunately for me she didn't even touch the baby. All she said was I should take the baby to the nursery, I asked if she wasn't going to check the baby before sending us there but she refused and asked that I should go and prepare to get my baby admitted. I left and took her to a different hospital where a GP checked on her and gave me some prescriptions which got helped her recover at home.

Do you remember any uncomfortable, painful, funny or unpleasant medical experience? Share it with us🙂

When i first went in for surgery,it was painful. I guess the anaesthesia didn't take effect immediately.

I can remember the doctor was surprised when he started operating on me and I could feel the pain but then it suddenly died down and next thing I knew they were asking me if I can hear them. They were already done with the procedure.

Did you experience any medical trauma in your childhood?Could you share it with us?

The day I got vaccinated twice on a single day🤦. My elder brother dropped by at my school to see how I was doing and then there was a vaccination campaign going on so he got me vaccinated without my card. Then my mom came with the card later in the day and took me to be vaccinated. Given that my bro came earlier without the card, the nurses thought I was just avoiding the vaccine. There, they gave me another shot . I cried my eyes out,the pain felt more that before. Since that day, each time I see a syringe, I start feeling pains even before it enters my body.

Have you experienced an accident or illness considered serious? What teaching did this experience leave you?

I time I got operated on taught me a lesson,to always visit the doctor on time. What I had would have been avoided had it been I went for a check up the moment I noticed but I stayed at home trying to manage it and I instead worsen the situation which led to me being operated upon.

It feels great sharing my experience with others and I'd like to invite @nuahfabian and @munyuymercy to share their experiences with us.
