Steem Cameroon Contest - World No Tobacco Day (Nigeria)
It is always a beautiful thing to always try out beautiful contest that is held in the steem Cameron community held by @steem-cameroon and today I will be dropping my entry concerning the awareness day and which I believe you guys will definitely love it. Read below. Today I will be talking about the World No Tobacco Day which is always held in May 31st. I will be sharing more details below so stay tuned.
What do you know about the day? (Make sure you mention the actual date)
World No Tobacco as many of us might not be aware of due to the fact. That it is not a popular day that is always celebrated. They day is always celebrated annually on May 31 and this was starred by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as to help raise awareness concerning the danger that the use of tobacco can cause to our health and our society.
It was established in the year 1987 as this day helps to create the massive awareness for people to realise the health risk the tobacco consumption poised and so that we can have a tobacco -free world. It helps to be a reminder for the health danger as the tobacco consumption has led to over 8 million deaths per year.

Alright. I draw this drawing as an inspiration to portray the description of what the world no tobacco stand for. Most especially in the circle stand the cigarette and a sign to cancel it out as a way of the fight against smoking.
What are the changes you think this day has brought to your community.
There have been so many significant changes and impacts that the World No Tobacco Day has bring to my community and I will say one of them is the fact that it has helped to develop this culture for health and the wellbeing of people in the society. As the year proceeds, the rate of smoking among adults and teenagers have significantly dropped and that's due to the awareness the day boost.
Platforms like school have also helped to implement what I will say anti -smoking campaigns and educational programs that helps people and students both teenagers and adults to be enlightened about the dangers of tobacco use and this has created this consciousness among youth.
Who are the active promoters, and what do you think can be added to have more impact to your community.
When it comes to the active promoters, I will say there have actually been a whole lot of key players that have really been able to help to promote the World No Tobacco Day most especially in our community. Promoters like the Local Health Departments and the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have helped to play a key role in promoting the day.
Not only that but also the media outlets have gone a long way in contributing to the public service announcement and this has helped to create the awareness about the day.
One of the ways I believe that we can strengthen the impact of the World No Tobacco Day is to make sure we implement strategies like the involvement of the local businesses as it can help to increase the anti-tobacco messages around. It will surprise us that businesses can really play a very fundamental role in sponsoring events that will help people to quit smoking.
As I conclude, I will like to end by saying that the World No Tobacco has been able to serve as a powerful catalyst in order to combat the tobacco epidemic. I still believe this is just the beginning and more impact will still be felt much more in the community in coming years to come.

The world No tobacco day gone a long way to bringing to the consciousness of the society the negative effects tobacco may have on human health. The negative health effects can be devastating. So we should continue to take the information to global levels so as to reduce the negative surge of tobacco.
