It is always a great joy to always participate in the @steem-cameroon contest and today I will be dropping my entry in the contest of the Day Awareness. Today I have decided to go with World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. I will be sharing my perspective about it and I believe that you will enjoy reading below. Stay tune.
What Do You Know About the Day?
Let me start from this point on the fact that what do I really know about the day. Well I will like to start by saying that the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development which is always celebrated on the May 21st every year was first of all established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
This particular day always helps in actually promoting the cultures that exist all around the whole world. And not only that but also helps to establish the importance of having a quality dialogue all around the world. From the establishment day to this particular moment in which it starts in 2001, it has helped to promote the heritages of humanity and for us to respect and preserve the future generations ahead. By observing this day, it has really helped to increase the mutual respect and understanding among people.
UNESCO as it also exist helps to promote the cultural diversity in the human world. It prompted economic growth and helps at the end of the day to live a life of emotional and moral and spiritual life.

Give a brief description of your mascot.
In the little drawing I made, there are four hands inside a big circle. That big circle symbolise the globe or the world in general and then the four hands represent the cultural heritage uphold by the people. Beside it is the big inscription which says "World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development"
What Are the Changes You Think This Day Has Brought to Your Community?
Alright moving to the next session, what are actually the changes I think this day has really brought to my community. I will like by starting that it has really helped my community to actually experience a whole lot of significant changes all around. Some of the changes I will be discussing below.
- Increased Cultural Awareness
The first and foremost is the fact that it has helped to actually increase cultural awareness all around my community. Schools, organisations and some institutions have organised events such as the cultural fairs and that helps to promote cultural awareness. By holding this event, it has helped us to appreciate the cultural diversity all around the globe.
- Enhanced Social Harmony
The second one on the list is the fact that it has really helped to enhance social harmony. What do I mean by that? By helping to actually foster dialogue, it has helped to take away the gap between a whole lot of different cultural groups all around the world. This has helped to encourage conversations irrespective of the differences. This has helped to improve the relationship that exists among people.
- Economic and Creative Growth
The next one I will really like to talk about is the fact that it has really helped to increase economic and creative growth all around. What do I really mean by that? Local businesses especially those ones in the area of arts and crafts have helped to increase cultural events all around the world. This has really helped to increase the community cultural landscape all around the world.
Who Are the Active Promoters, and What Do You Think Can Be Added to Have More Impact on Your Community?
Moving to the next section I will like to talk about, I will like to discuss the active promoters that help the day to be pushed all around the world.
- Educational Institutions.
The first one I will like to talk about is the educational institutions. They really play a very important role as schools and universities helps in organising cultural exchanges programs all around. These educational workshops have helped to improve the importance of knowing and understanding the different cultures all around the world.
- Cultural Organizations.
The next active promoters I will talk about are the Cultural organisations. They have helped to work together with community leaders to create events and programs that help to showcase the cultural diversity.
3- Local Government.
The last one I will definitely like to talk about are the local governments. Local governments have really helped in supporting initiatives, providing money to fund events and creating public campaigns to increase the awareness.
Ways To Improve the Impact
In as much as there are a whole lot of impacts that has been created in the community due to the day, I still believe much more can be done with it and I will be sharing some of them with us today.
- Expanding Outreach and Participation.
The first one I will certainly like to talk about is making use of outreach and participation. I still believe there are a whole lot of parts of the community that still needs to be reached and I believe by making use of outreach, it will certainly go a long way most especially making use of digital platforms.
- Sustained Engagement.
The next avenue I believe can actually help to increase the impact is the sustained engagement. Engagement is really key to help to sustain lasting impact that is been created in the community even for years to come.
- Youth Involvement.
Then the last one I will talk about before rounding up is the youth involvement. Youth are so powerful tool in promoting cultural heritage beyond what we can ever imagine of at times. When we engage young people, it really goes a long way in Sustaining the cultural diversity at the long term.
In conclusion and as I conclude, I will like to establish that the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development day have really create this cultural diversity. I see the day as a very important reminder to point to us that Cultural heritage needs to be sustained in our society both for now and for the future generations to come.
