THE PLACE WHERE I LIVE #1 : Cameroon, Northwest Region, Bamenda Is My Hometown And The Place I Live

Hey dear fellow Steemians, I believe you are all doing great. It's weekend and it's a Sunday day which is highly rainy here in my city.

I'm happy to be participating in this contest organized by @pennsif because it will be great for everyone to know about my city my town. I also believe that y'all will enjoy my city because of what I will be sharing to you

BAMENDA is my city and it's also considered a town. It is located in the Northwest region of Cameroon and it is one of the English speaking town in Cameroon. It can so be called "Mankon" town or "Abakwa" town. This name ""Abakwa or Mankon"" was named after the first football club came into existence in my Town, Bamenda. This football club is called "PWD( Pirates With Draws) Bamenda" and it was founded in 1962, about 60 years now. I can tell you guys alot more about my town, but time short, story long...

As I said, I come from Cameroon, in the Northwest region to be specifically. The name of the city/town where I currently resides is "Bamenda" and it is considered the most successful town in the top 10regions in my country Cameroon in terms of agriculture, food cultivate and education.

My city Bamenda is mainly located about. 366 km northwest of the economy capital which is Yaounde

In general, Cameroon has a total population of about 27.5 million people as of now. Out of this 27.5 million, Bamenda is about 5,70000 people and this 2 million people can be found in the three districts of Bamenda know as ""Bamendankwe, Nkwen and Mankon"" which are the three districts that make up Bamenda

As can been seen above, that is the total population of Bamenda as of now , 2022 and we see that the population keeps increasing every blessed year.

When comparing the population of Bamenda with other city/towns in Cameroon, we see that Bamenda is 3rd most populated city and only Douala (economic capital) and Yaounde (Capital city) has higher population when compared to Cameroon. Yaounde is considered the most populated city in Cameroon with over 4M people and it is also the capital of Cameroon

Bamenda is considered as one of the Coldest cities in Cameroon and it is also scenic hilly located between 5°56′N 10°10′E. The city has an elevation of about 1,614m which is almost 5,295ft. We have a time zone of UTC+1 West African Time.

In terms of government, Bamenda is headed by mayor "Achobang Tambeng Paul" and we also have the largest opposition party in Bamenda known as SDF(Social Social Democratic Front). It is bad that we are currently living in fear now in Bamenda because of the current Anglophone crises which has escalated into civil war killing hundreds of thousands of people (both military, civilians and Ambazonia Fighters). We hope for this war to stop as soon as possible because so many lives have been lost, homes destroyed, business centers, schools, hospitals burnt down and alot more of destructions such as kidnapping, raping, torturing as can been seen from what my uncle went through in the hands of this people here and here

Above are just a few dishes they sell at ROMZ restaurant. You can also purchased pizza 🍕, hamburger 🍔, sharwama, soft drinks, whiskey of all kinds and alot more of other things. The three dishes above are calledEkwang, Achu and Water fufu and errow are very special dishes which are commonly found only here in Bamenda which is what we are proud of

The above image is the the Grand Stand which is located at Commercial Avenue Bamenda. This is where we usually have special Celebration days like every 11th February (Youth days), every 20th May(National day celebration), teacher day celebration, women's day celebration and so many other celebrations are usually held at this "Grand Stand". The place is always heavily guarded by the military

Bamenda has one of the best Universities in Cameroon in terms development and it's called the "the University of the Future"" because of how fast it's growing despite being the news state university out of the Total 8 state universities in Cameroon. It is also having the best football stadium which is where all sporting activities are carried out including elite 1 and 2 championship football in Cameroon

We have very special traditional attire which is only common to the people of Bamenda and outsiders and visitors love this traditional attire so much. It is also very expensive since it requires alot of skills to produce and came out with an accurate design. This special attire has made us to be recognized nationally and even world wide because they are visitors and foreigners who love this our special attire alot

Bamenda has alot of touristic site such as Mankon Museum, Kimbi national park Museums, Hotels and other special sites that visitors will love to visit

Kimbi-Fungom National Park is found in my city Bamenda and is considered a national park since it is one of the finest parks in Cameroon. It is really a place worth visiting because it's history. This park contains a variety of different species of animals and birds and it's a very good touristic site to pay a visit

Bamenda also has Speciality Museums which represents our Cultural heritage and tradition. This is to say that, this museums represents very special part of our culture and artistic heritage

Above are some top hotels food in my city Bamenda. The first one is the inside if "Too star hotel", the next is "Wawa hotel" and the last you see is "Pelican Hotel". They are other hotels such ayaba hotel, Azam hotel, Blue Pearl hotel, Hiltop hotel and so many others
