The Diary Game [18-01-2025] // A Day at Our Local Food Market.
Steem greetings @everyone from the motherland-Cameroon and welcome to my blog as I share my lifestyle content with you all. Weekends are my free days and Saturdays most especially are meant for shopping for either food items, toileteries or kitchen accessories.
The harmattan wind and dust are still dealing with us. The worst of it is that I'm now allergic to facemasks. I cannot comfortably put on a facemask to walk around. I had to bear all the dust but used my hair scarf to at least reduce the quantity of dust inhaled. I had to use the hair scarf when necessary to cover my nostrils.
Before leaving the house that morning, I had to prepare breakfast for my kids. They were still sleeping as it was the weekend and they normally wake up late. I prepared fried ripe plantains with an omelette and placed them in a flask.
I needed some cash to use while in the market and had to pass by the bank to withdraw cash. I took a cab straight to the bank and upon arrival, I noticed the office was still locked but some workers and the security guard were seated infront of the office. I walked to the security guard to find out what was happening. He informed me that there have been changes concerning the opening time on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM. I joined the rest of the customers and we all waited till it was 9:00 AM when the manager arrived and opened the office. We had to still stay outside for a while for them to arrange before the customers came in for their transactions. I was the second in the queue to be served.
I left the bank and took a bike to the local food market to buy some food items. I bought fresh tomatoes, fresh spices, green bell peppers, carrots and green beans. The most important thing that took me to the market was to buy non-sticky pots and sets of kitchen spoons.
The market this week was still scanty and sellers continue complaining of low turnout as customers are still consuming the food they stock during the festive season. Truly even moving on the roads, there was no traffic as compared to some days.
After buying all that I needed it was time to take a cab back home. I stood by the roadside for almost 2hours and could not get a cab back home. The scorching sun was dealing with me and I had to use my headscarf to shed myself from the sun while waiting for a cab. Only a few bikes could be spotted and I was not willing to take a bike due to the dust.
I finally got a cab at about 1:00 PM at an expensive price as I was already exhausted standing under the scorching sun. When I arrived home, I quickly arranged everything took a warm bath and napped for about 2 hours.
Then I prepared our dinner which was coki and boiled plantains. I served myself and enjoyed my first meal for the day because I did not eat before leaving the house.
Then came the soccer evening as we had to watch the English Premiere league game between Arsenal Vs Aston Villa. The game started well with Arsenal pressing on and leading 2:0 till the 60th and 68th minutes when Aston Villa equalised the game.
It was indeed a day with all my to-do list fulfilled. Until my next diary, it is a good night from my end🥰🥰.
You have been working hard since morning. You have already come to the market and bought raw vegetables as needed. Then cooked dinner and watched the game on TV. Ma'am, I enjoyed reading your diary today.
You are such a strong woman, the energy you put in to ensure your family needs are met is top-notch, you wake very early prepare breakfast and thereby proceed to the bank, I'm glad to know that bank opens on Saturday in your locality and after finishing from bank you proceed to market to buy food items and non-stickable pot, after going through such stress you still came back and prepare dinner and ate for the first time.
I truly admire you from a far, there are some women who can't do what you have done, they allow their househelp to do everything while they just sit and watch.
You have truly show me good example and with this you are able to run your home smoothly, your love for football also inspire me,
balancing your family needs, social and having time for your online work shows how much resourceful you are, keep it up Ma.
I wish to be reliable and resourceful like you.
Another hectic day for this virtue woman, sorry for the dust inconvenience, I'm also experiencing same here in my place.
I've been reading your diary and believe I love them, I can only imagine the unique taste from your fried plantain. It actually makes sense as you first prepared meal for your kids before going out to the bank to withdraw cash.
Going the early even before bank opens gave you the advantage of being the second in the queue, well planned.
Waiting to read your next diary, a caring mother and good chef, don't forget to remain my plantain ooo. Smiles!!!😄
