Background to the Contest.

Nowadays, a lot of youths rush into marriage without good knowledge of what marriage is all about and ended up suffocating in it because they choose “for better and for worse”. The concept of marriage has different meanings based on the society we find ourselves. Many equally give a wrong interpretation of the concept of marriage.

For instance, in a typical traditional set-up in Cameroon, they believed that women are like men’s property once the man pays some token as a bride price. They feel they have total ownership over your life. To the extent that beating the woman is a normal way to correct her for her wrongs.

Most women stayed in abusive marriages and ended up dying because of the slogan that “marriage is for better or for worse till death do us part.” meaning, no matter how abusive the marriage is, you have to succumb because once married, only death can separate the two.

Notwithstanding, some couples now prefer a contract marriage to protect their assets and it equally helps to define the rights and responsibilities of the two parties coming together in a union called marriage.

This contest is meant to get the opinions of different users about which of them they prefer (marriage for life or contract marriage), thereby also raising awareness.
