"Steem Cameroon Best day Contest - 7th September, 2024"
This is @alli001 from #Nigeria🇳🇬.
On a vibrant day filled with joy and cultural splendor, @ubikool embarked on a significant journey, weaving together tradition and love as they celebrated their union in a captivating traditional marriage ceremony. He was surrounded by family, friends, and steemians as well. We went to great lengths to make this day etched in our memory, are you curious to hear the details?
I woke up at 6am, hearing sounds of raindrops hitting my roof, and my heart sank as I thought about the wedding planned for today, pondering that it would ruin the entire day. I was sad, but then i released a sigh relief
Going to get a haircut |
---|
While waiting for the rain to subside, I utilized the time to attend to some personal tasks, I got a haircut, picked up my traditional attire from the dry cleaner, and prepared my travel bag, as the wedding was scheduled to take place in Nsit-Atai Local Government Area, the bride's hometown.
When the rain finally ceased at 11am, I swiftly hailed a taxi and headed to the designated meeting point, where the groomsmen were assembling before departing together. The taxi driver arrived promptly in 12 minutes, because of my distant location, and that made me slightly late.
Clinging to the door |
---|
Upon arrival, I was surprised to find that the number of groomsmen exceeded expectations, and the bus was already packed to capacity. With no available seats, I was forced to cling to the door, which was very scary. Nevertheless, we didn't linger and set off immediately, bound for Nsit-Atai Local Government Area for the joyous occasion ahead.
Following a 30-minute drive, we arrived at Nsit-Atai Local Government Area. According to our tradition, the groom and his friends (including me) were taken into designated room, where we could change into our attire if necessary, refresh ourselves with food and drink, and unwind until the wedding ceremony commenced. This set of food is what we call in our dialect "Udia-Ibeñe".
While enjoying the happy moments with the groom and family, gorgeous steemians, with the username @ngoenyi and @bossj23 were already on their way, so I had to direct them to the venue through phone call and WhatsApp chat. The joy inside me was indeed overwhelming when I saw them, I offered them food to eat.
Eating and drinking session was over, and it was time to present the handsome groom to the people of Nsit-Atai Local government area. That was when we all unleashed our traditional attire from the cage😁. With the assistance of a wise and experienced Christian brother, the groom's traditional outfit, as well as those of his groomsmen, were impeccably dressed and perfectly fitted, exuding a sense of elegance and cultural pride.
We looked so sharp and bright for our beloved brother and steemian. Our traditional song titled "Ebe Ndo" meaning "Husband" was played, as we dance @ubikool into the stage. We the friends, specially organized a song we'll dance with him on the stage after the crowd dismisses. We danced to "ogechi Remix by Davido", the beats and lyrics of this song came with power, strength, passion and love.
@ubikool was asked to dance to his seat majestically, dancing to our traditional song titled "Asabo tañ nyaha" meaning "Snake pick up grasses". This particular moments is always full of laughter because of the dancing steps, accolades to our esteemed steemian, because he gave justice to it😁. The supposed bride, who's @ubikool's wife today was brought out using the same format, but with different traditional songs. She also danced majestically, just like a princess she is, to sit with his beloved husband.
