What is your understanding of Non-Communicable Diseases? |

Depression is a mental health disorder that falls under the category of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). It is a leading cause of disability and contributes to the global burden of disease. Depression is characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, and loss of interest or pleasure in activities. It can also manifest in physical symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disturbances, and changes in appetite.
Have you or any close friends suffered from Depression? You might want to tell us what caused it. How did you manage the situation? |

I remember when one of my closest friends was struggling with depression. It was a difficult time for her, and it was hard to see her in so much pain. She had been going through a lot of stress and difficult life events, and it had taken a toll on her mental health. I made sure to be there for her, to listen and offer support whenever I could. I encouraged her to seek professional help, and she eventually did start seeing a therapist, which helped her to better understand and manage her feelings. It was not an easy journey, but with time, patience, and support, she was able to gradually regain a sense of control and find ways to cope with her depression.
Any specialist or health care centre to care for those suffering from depression in your country. |

Yes, there are several specialists and healthcare centers in India that provide care and support for those suffering from depression. Some of the top centers for depression treatment in India include:
- National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore
- All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi
- Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur
- Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai
- Fortis Healthcare in various locations across India
In addition to these institutions, there are many private and government hospitals, mental health clinics, and individual psychiatrists and psychologists that offer services for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of depression.
In case you meet someone suffering from Depression, what advice will you give to her or him? |
---|

Source
If I were to meet someone suffering from depression, I would offer the following advice:
- Offer emotional support and a listening ear, without judgment or criticism.
- Encourage them to engage in activities that they enjoy and that promote relaxation and stress reduction, such as exercise, meditation, or spending time outdoors.
- Remind them that depression is a treatable illness and that recovery is possible with the right treatment and support.
- Encourage them to practice self-care and prioritize their physical and mental well-being, including getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and avoiding drugs and alcohol.
It is important to remember that each individual's experience with depression is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another. The most important thing is to provide a safe and supportive environment for the individual to seek help and begin their journey towards healing and recovery.
I would like to invite my friends @erode, @everestjay and @avinashgoyal to this contest.

Thankyou for the support
With all sense of sincerity I must say that , here you did total breakdown of what such as depression entails. Moreso , here I do know where I can point right there in India for any patient suffering from depression.
I agree with you. If the patient suffers from depression that is not severe, he can listen to advice, but if it is severe depression, no advice will matter to him and he will not accept it in the first place. His feelings are frozen, he does not feel anything, neither sadness nor joy. He begins treatment when he has the will to do so, otherwise he cannot He is being treated, a topic that you touched onNice.
