Steemit Engagement Challenge: Meet my Sporty Side by @samuel20

•INTRODUCTION:

We are in for a new week, specifically the third week of the engagement challenge. I really loved all the topics presented by the seven(7) communities, but this particular one caught my fancy and so I decided to write it first.

Sport and Sporting activities is one thing I love naturally. I started following sports right from the age of seven (7). This is because the place we lived back then had a lot of sports loving adults.

•CHRISTMAS SPORTS:

During christmas holiday,we would always travel to the village, and there is always a local football competition among all the 12 villages in my community, the competition would start from group stage up until the semi finals and the final day game. I didn't miss any of this games, the games normally take place at the village football field. Even as a young boy, I never missed any of those games each december period.

My favourite sport is football. I watch is always, I started following the UEFA champions league right from my first year in secondary school, at some point I skipped class just to watch the 2002 Korea/Japan world cup game involving Nigeria and Sweden; I was in primary school then.Such a passion for football.

•HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS:

In secondary school, I played a lot of football matches for my school then. I also represented yellow house during Interhouse sports competitions where our darling yellow house emerged victorious.I was in the third year of secondary school then.

During my service year after graduation, we engage in sports every Saturday, it was compulsory for all serving corps members then. So sports has been an integral part of me. At the present, I am one of the biggest fans of the English Premier League (EPL).

During the time that I was a teacher in a high school here in Nigeria. I was appointed the head teacher of the yellow house team. Recall that I was a member of yellow house back then in secondary school and coincidentally, i was also appointed the head teacher of yellow house team now as a teacher.

•SPORTS AS A TEACHER:

Back to where I stopped, I was the head teacher of the yellow house, my team participated in a lot of events which include table tennis, volleyball, hockey, high jump, long jump, races and the greatest of it all; football.

I coached the yellow house team to victory as we emerged victorious after collating the result of all the events. It was a great moment and my passion for sports payed off once again.

Here is Nigeria, one of the most successful football clubs is Enyimba football club who has won the CAF Champions League twice. I have been to the Enyimba stadium a couple of times. I once remembered the days that I go there each Wednesday to watch the training session of the football club. I watch it from 4pm to 6pm each Wednesday and on Sundays, I will go to watch the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) games at the same stadium.

•AS A SPORTS UMPIRE:

When it comes to officiating sports, I have on many occasions served as an umpire in volley and football games. As for officiating in football games, I have worked as a centre referee as well as a linesman on many occasions.

In summary,I have been actively involved in watching sports, participated in active football and volleyball as a player, coached a school team to victory, served as a referee in football as well as volleyball and hockey competitions. When it comes to sports in general, I have payed my dues.
