My experience with The Diary Game + How it all started, by @kennydavebobo.

INTRODUCTION: Good day to every wonderful people in this community, I bid each and every one of us welcome to the third week of this contest. What a privilege to be a Steemians.

Today again, I would like to thank the brains behind this contest as it has been really helpful in a lot of ways. Also, I am commending all the communities for handling their role effectively. Well done!

Today, I am here to write on my experience of the diary game and so, I will advise us to rest our backs and grab a glass of water as we read through.

My experience with the diary game

I will get started by sharing my experience with the diary game and I will start by saying, it wasn't all rosy.

I joined Steemit in October this year and my first diary game was posted in @steemalive, a community in my country that has its members at heart. It is a great privilege to be a member. I was invited to participate in the diary game post by @ngoenyi.

Back then, a diary game post which is a post written to record day-to-day events and personal thoughts was very new to me and I had different feelings about it back then.

When I first started, many things are not clear to me, I don't know what I am to write about, when I am to start writing, where I am to stop, when I am to publish the post, etc. All this was what I experience at that time but as time goes on, I got very used to it and it became my habit.

Another experience I had with it is that votes are not guaranteed. At first, It didn't go well with me as I was still a newbie on Steemit and all I actually want back then is to earn but as time goes on, I realized that it wasn't just about the votes but about the accountability, memories I am creating, knowing everything that I have done daily and much more.

You know, as I was checking back some minutes ago to see some of my past diary game posts, I couldn't hold that smile nor stop reading. They are very beautiful moments that I can revert to anytime.

I also must say that it was a diary post that got me familiarized with most of the Steemit markdown. I tried and tends to make use of enough markdowns whenever I was making my diary game post and this has been such a nice experience as it has got me familiarized with all markdowns.

Furthermore, back then, I started by writing at most two or three paragraphs which takes a lot of my time but now, I write as many paragraphs that sometimes self, I had to shorten or cut some events that take place. It has been such a long ride.

Another experience I had with diary game posts is my taking a lot of pictures. This has been great and has actually helped me overcome some phobia. I am, No, I was a very shy person to the extent that I barely take enough pictures unless it is very important but when I started writing diary game posts, I broke away from that shyness and I have been doing fine.

Nowadays, I take pictures of almost every event that occurred in my day and I can tell you that it comes with great feelings.

Advantages of diary game

Ever since I have been writing diary game posts, below are some of the benefits I see in writing it, and even from my experiences that I shared earlier, we would have seen some advantages.

• One major advantage of writing a diary post is that it makes me organize my thought as well as make them apprehensible.

• The diary game post has greatly increased my writing skill and I see this as an advantage too. We need to know that the more we write, the more our writing improves.

• Writing diary game posts is a way of relieving stress. Well, this is my own opinion, whenever I write out the events that occurred in my day, I tend to free myself from moments of anxiety or frustration that occurred, and this helps in relieving stress.

• Also, another advantage is that the diary game post helps me to self-reflect. This is one of the reasons I keep writing diary game posts despite the fact that most of them don't get upvoted. Writing diary post help me to look back and see how I need to improve on myself.

• Diary game post also boost my memory as it aids my resemblance ability. I tend to remember whatever I write down very well.

• Lastly, a diary post is a way of setting and achieving one's goals. It helps reduce procrastination and improves self-awareness.

Disadvantages of diary game

As much as writing a diary game has many advantages, it also has some disadvantages and I am going to mention some below.

• One major disadvantage I see in writing diary game posts is that one's private life and information are made available to a lot of people and even bad people can leverage it.

• Another disadvantage is that it takes some time to write. In this fast-paced world where everyone including me is yearning for more time to enjoy life more, keeping a diary takes some time. However, we shouldn't forget the benefits of keeping one.

• As well as the diary game helps one to record wonderful and fun times daily, it can also be a reminder of bad memories.
