SEC-S18-W5: Photographs and emotions

It a privilege writing my first contest in this great community #steemVenezuela

Photographs are really visual elements that help us bring emotions to our memories
as stated in our contest.

The first photo reminded me of my confirmation held on 21/01/2024. It is a day have long been waiting for. It makes me feel happy that am a full member of our church. Without been confirmed you can’t be a full member of my church, which means you can’t take communion, can’t hold any position in the church, can’t join a singing group etc.

It reminded me of the final date when the Archbishop of our diocese asked the confirmees in the present of the whole church to say the apostle’s Creed and if anyone that can’t say it will wait until next year before he will be confirmed, so everyone tried their best. He asked more questions from our church Catechism before he confirming us for the year 2024. It was full of tension. I was really tensed because other years the wi Archbishop would asked those who could not answer his questions to lie down and cover their faces on a mat spread before the church altar till the confirmation is over. Thanks to God none was a victim.

It was about my birthday that year. my uncle (my father’s senior brother) died within that month, so my dad had to travel to the village. On the day of my birthday I called my dad to remind him about it and he replied and said why did your uncle die? With that word, I was not happy.

It was last year we planted cassava. And around April this year we harvested it for processing to garri. It was going to be my first time of frying garri so I could not wait for it. My family and I joined in the peeling of the cassava, wash it. My mum and I went to grind it and gave them to dry it. The next day we set out to an uncle’s place in Uyo where would fry the garri, when it was time to fry the garri my dad said everyone will try, so when it was my turn to try, smoke did not allow me, but my mom later on set it well and I was able to do even more. And when I travelled outside Uyo and saw a neighbor frying garri I helped her because I can fry too.
Looking at the photo reminded me of the first time I fried garri. I was happy I could do that.
