0000000000001111 - Club Status & Reality Check

in Steemit Dev Group3 years ago (edited)

I've made a few more enhancements to the "Club Status" Page which will be particularly helpful to the steemcurator teams (i.e. I'm making my own life easier). As well as an addition suggested by @saracampero following my last post.

Outgoing Delegations

The first addition is the inclusion of an extra tab to highlight Outgoing Delegations. To make this more useful to steemcurators, I have included a simple warning symbol if the user is delegating to a known "delegate to vote" system.

image.png

If you click on this tab, you'll get additional details with the delegations ordered by size (the largest at the top) along with an indication as to how much of the user's STEEM Power is delegated.

Open Orders on the Internal Market

@saracampero suggested that I include open trades - I found this particularly useful when trying to work out where the money from booming upvotes had gone with the hive-180821 account. I found it odd that they'd received 19 booming upvotes in March but had not powered up a single STEEM (and there was less than 6 STEEM sat in their wallet).

As with the other transactions, the open orders are only included for the time period selected (I use the limit_order_create and check this against a limit_order_cancel and the fill_order information).

I originally included this in the pie chart and then I thought that @saracampero wouldn't be very happy with me because it made the power-up percentage very low for some users - so I didn't include it in the pie chart and added it to the bottom of the table next to it instead. Please let me know in the comments if you think that I should reverse this decision.

The hive-180821 account can now be seen with over 1,500 STEEM waiting to be powered-up which can then be used to support its community members.

Reality Check

Whilst I'm desperate to give Steemit a fully-functioning and sexy new-front end, I have to accept the harsh reality that I probably shouldn't be doing this in PHP. As @steemchiller correctly pointed out, I really need to learn Node.JS. For me to learn Node.JS, I'd also need to brush up on my JavaScript skills and at my age and with no other use for these skills other than for Steemit, it's a path that doesn't make a lot of sense for me. I'd be looking at many months of "training" before I could even start this work... Given that it's taken me 4 months to get to where I am by using a coding language that I know, we're probably looking at 1-2 years before you'll start to enjoy any benefits.

So it makes sense for me to forget any ideas that I had of applying for funding from steem.DAO and accept that I won't be writing a sexier Steem Peakd.

However, I can continue to write some useful tools to help steemcurators and to stop those scummy scammers from profiting.

I plan to keep this @coding-gorilla account active and keep you update with stuff that I think will be useful 🙂

Sort:

When you say you're too old to learn something else, I wonder how old?
What you have done is interesting and I like it. The current sentiment is supposed to be that we turn on at least half of our bounties, if we can all agree to that, we'll be fine.
I also understand those who disagree, and they will also have their reasons, and I think there is still freedom to exercise what you want to do with Steem in Steemit.

Your tool allows us to simply watch what happens.

The labels and names used lend themselves to interpretation, but my recommendation is that you try to use the clearest possible language, this will allow you to observe the facts as close to reality as possible.

I leave you greetings, and I still wonder, are you really as old as you say?😅

Your tool allows us to simply watch what happens.

Exactly 🙂

In terms of age... I am perhaps not old. To my 4 year old, I am probably very old. To my next door neighbour, I am probably very young. But my career writing code for a living is behind me and I have no other use for learning the programming language required. So for learning Node.JS, I am too old. If I were starting my career writing code, it would make a lot more sense.

Yes, I understand

Now if I can understand everything clear in your cool tool. It's all great.

It would look better:

  • Replace the words (Not Powered Up) simply by Balance. So remove "Not Powered Up" since not all balance has to be Power up. It seems rather malicious hehe, there are also people who may have some liquidity for contests or etc, so it seems to be malicious that the words "NOT power UP."

  • Replace the word "Comments" in the earned rewards and transfers part, with the correct word "Benefactor", since those are the rewards for profit delegated from another account.

About the chart, the main one was right, since, the balance in favor nor the balance in the internal market "in all cases" is an impediment to be in the club, since it can be a balance coming from a purchase, OR it can simply be part of the user's club during all the time since the club started, OR an investment of the user to trade in the internal market, so to obtain extra profits, or the user can be saving.

What the user wants to do with his share of the clubs is up to him, but if he expects to stay within the club rules he should Power UP the corresponding amount at the time of withdrawal. Only if he/she wishes to'.

It's fine to include all possible withdrawals, but if the user doesn't want to sell, he has to sell his balance to be able to be in your club?

It would also be good to add the estimated earnings at the end, including the conversion of the sbd with the current prices, so you can see how much or how little of the rewards have been converted into Power UP.

What the user wants to do with his share of the clubs is up to him, but if he expects to stay within the club rules he should Power UP the corresponding amount at the time of withdrawal. Only if he/she wishes to'.

I disagree. I don't believe this reflects the sentiment of clubs. Let's say I earn 1,000 STEEM thanks to upvotes from steemcurator01. If we follow the power up must be greater than withdrawals, then if I power up 1 STEEM, then I am in #club100.

For me, this goes against the idea behind it. Even if the 999 STEEM aren't being withdrawn, they're not being used to support the community. Whereas if 500 STEEM is powered up (which is what I believe #club5050 is intended to mean), then it's a true reflection of the objectives that the Steemit Team is trying to accomplish.

Replace the word "Comments" in the earned rewards and transfers part, with the correct word "Benefactor", since those are the rewards for profit delegated from another account.

The "Comments" is the money earned from people upvoting your comments.

Time for me is short so apologies for the brevity of my reply.

Ok I understand, but there is a part of the rule that says, that the person can turn on once a month to participate in the Spud4Steem.

For example, I can receive votes and all month turn on just that day (every 01), then during 02 to 31 I can have that balance there waiting for 01 to participate in Spud4Steem, and it will be seen as (NOT Power UP).

This is left to the expertise of the curator to review the balance of the wallets people, I guess that someone who in a month has only turned on 2 STEEM would not be supported, I mean, so many people who turn on more amount.

So, I have a house in my name and I have to sell it to support the community? that's what you want to say? I guess here everyone owns their coins however they have obtained them, as long as people comply with the club and it is seen that they light up the % according to their rewards and above all comply with the rule of the club (Power Up Vs transfers) there is no problem, if people keep, save, sell or invest their part. When you go to withdraw you will surely have to power up to stay within the rules.

I know what the comments are, but the amount that is reflected there, is the amount that is received by beneficiary rewards. The rewards for comments are already included in the posts.

So, I have a house in my name and I have to sell it to support the community? that's what you want to say?

More that steemcurator is "paying" somebody for their content with the expectation that the money will be used a certain way. If they don't use it in the way that steemcurator expects, then they'll "pay" somebody else. Everybody's entitled to do what they wish with their STEEM.

This is left to the expertise of the curator to review the balance of the wallets

👆🏼 This. When I'm curating, I interpret the results in the chart.

I know what the comments are, but the amount that is reflected there, is the amount that is received by beneficiary rewards.

I'll double check my understanding of this... the field returned is "comment_benefactor_reward" so what you say makes sense.

'Paying' is not the correct term in Steemit, some users get confused and think that rewards are a payment, hence they see Steemit as a job, when it is not.

That steem garden account in the example you gave is wrong, but according to the existing rules it needs to have a recent power up to be inside the club, but for some reason you can see that it hasn't received more support. Maybe that's the reason, "for not having a recent power up, as the rule says".

Why do you divide in two the transfers? users and exchanges? All this should go together, since it is the same thing. Anyway, the only thing that matters is that the balance of the power up is always higher. Oh, by the way, at some point it can be used for any period? 2 months, 6 months, years.

I'm just telling you, that at least those words of (no power up) would not be the right one. Sounds like bullying to users hehehehe.

Oh and I understand how comment_benefactor appears. Exactly are the rewards of benefits, delegated to another account in the publications. I just wanted to see if it could be changed so that people don't get confused. Everything should look optimal for all steemit to use it soon.

The first link, Club Status, seems to point to localhost. Have you uploaded this PHP file to a server anywhere?

I think you can still do a lot with PHP and I wish you well with this project!

Thanks, I've updated the link 👍🏼

The link is working but I didn't go to the site because my browser is complaining that it isn't https. You may already know this, but https://www.cloudflare.com/ offers a Free plan that will give you an SSL certificate so your sites become https. https://www.cloudflare.com/ssl/
I've used it for a long time and it works great, and you also get other features like caching and some security features. I'm sure your site is fine to go to, but people feel better seeing https :)

I've not tried cloudflare so thanks for the tip 🙂

You have done a lot of work and now it is not necessary to stop. Maybe you should involve someone else in creating a new interface, even on a paid basis. You can pay for his work by writing posts on behalf of @ coding-gorilla or try to write a proposal for funding. The idea of the proposal is to obtain funding to cover the costs of a particular project, rather than paying for a ready-made solution.

An alternative is to create a new interface on a different domain. You've already done that, just for more visitors, you'll need a dedicated server. There you can refine the interface online, while stuffing it with your great tools. You should try to get the most out of PHP.

It is much more convenient for me to search for posts in your interface, it is much better for me to work with tags there. This is what I would like to see in Steemit. Get the most out of PHP. Let this alternative interface be like a set of tools. For example, in your new interface, I can find the posts I need for curation, conveniently check for club status, etc., but to vote for the selected posts, I will return to the old Steemit interface.

Thanks for the support but if creation of this tool has taught me one thing, it's that I don't have the patience required to launch anything else for the Steemit community.

I thought so :)

Another option. Is it possible to implement small positive changes and improvements in the existing interface?

I'll keep working on the interface - without any pressure and being selective as to who I tell about it 🙂 I started implementing a navigation structure yesterday which should make our curation job easier. I'm working on a "Sports" section first with "Football", "Tennis", "Motorsport", etc. as sub-sections - all built upon hashtags. It should be cool.

Hooray!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
