How are you guys, I hope you are all well. First of all I would like to thank @jyoti-thelight74 for organizing such a contest. Actually, this contest is a very valuable contest because this allows us to know about the traditional clothes of other nations about their culture.

The topic here is traditional costume. First of all, I would like to talk about the clothes in general. In the past, clothes were created to cover our furrows and to cover the organs of the body. Later, different styles of clothes were created. In today's world, clothing is both fashion and art. So, you can see a lot of different styles of clothes belonging to different races of different countries in the world today. A traditional costume is a sign that reflects the uniqueness, culture and tradition of different races in different countries of the world today. A traditional costume can show the culture of a country.

I am a Sri Lankan Sinhala Buddhist girl. So, Sri Lanka is a country with a multi-ethnic society, many nationalities like Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims and Burghers live in our country. Therefore, each nation has its own traditional costume. So I would like to talk about the traditional costume of the Sri Lankan Sinhala Buddhist society that I know very well.

There are some special traditional clothes in the Sinhala Buddhist society. Since ancient times, Sinhala Buddhist kings, men from noble families and high officials in government service wore nilame clothes, while Sinhalese women from noble families wore osari and there was special respect for these traditional clothes.

This is my bappa and punchi on their wedding day😍

In this osari worn by women, the beauty of a woman is perfectly displayed. This ossary is also known as kandyan and it is known as ossary in Sinhala. Men's personality is well displayed in Nilame Atuma.

My Cousin brother 😍

In the Sinhala Buddhist society, which had a special respect for these traditional clothes, today, the bride is dressed in Osari and the groom is dressed in Nilam in weddings. It is beautifully shaped by using the necessary clothes for that. The bride, shaped as an ossuary, wears 7 necklaces with their own three-pointed sun and heart on her head. The bridegroom also dresses up on the wedding day with glory, devotion and respect. These clothes are used for special occasions like weddings because there is a special respect for these clothes in our society.

Similarly, Diyawadana Nilame, who works as the guardian of this Nilame Temple, still wears this traditional dress with great devotion in the special functions of the dalada palace. This special occasion can be seen even today in the annual Dalada Perahera.

Women wear Osari not only during weddings, but also during religious festivals, national festivals, and special events. Another traditional costume of ours is the saree, sleeveless shirt, and children's sari. In religious ceremonies, rituals, and national ceremonies, sarong and sleeveless shirts and children's sari are worn. The temple is the religious shrine of the Sinhalese Buddhists. When going to the temple, many girls and women dress up in sarong and long sleeve shirts and children's sarees. Dhamma education is provided in the temple for their own daughters on Sundays. To go to Dhamma school, girls dress up in children's sari and boys dress up in sarong and sleeveless shirts. The official dress of the Dhamma school is the sarong and sleeveless shirt and the children's sari is made in white.

In the distant past, the Sinhala Buddhist village people used cloth and top for daily wear, women used sarong and shirt for men.

Nowadays, cloth and top as well as sarong and shirt are worn in various cultural festivals like Sinhala New Year. It shows the Sri Lankan Sinhala Buddhist culture.
