When staying in Victoria Falls town, Zimbabwe, the main reason is to see the waterfall by the same name. There are lots of activities catering for tourists if you stay several days in the town. The waterfall is only a half day tour unless you sit down on at the cafe at the entrance. We did a morning walking tour to the falls. In the afternoon we had booked a three-hour Sunset Dinner Cruise. A great way to have a feeling of luxury, but at the same time float on the Zambezi River.

After embarking and start of tour at five o’clock in the afternoon, we started a three-hour tour on the river. A four-course dinner started. But after only a short time we spotted hippos in the water. That made all of us get up from our seats. The surrounding landscape and wildlife were worth the whole tour. Elephants usually come to the water as well. They might have been there. As it got darker, we mostly concentrated on the food. The colour palate on the sky did make all of us get up from our chair though.

As we continued the colours changed. A series of delicious dishes were served. Wonderfully paired with South African wines. After the desert was served it was time to just relax and watch the sun set. A few days before we booked the tour, the weather forecast predicted rain. Fortunately, it turned out to be sunny and rather warm. Victoria Falls does offer lots of possibilities for dinner cruises, lunch cruises, steam train dinner rides. We did check the steam train dinner ride. But the train makes a stop on the Victoria Falls Bridge, high above a deep gorge. Not recommended if you are afraid of hights!

To combine a morning walking tour to the waterfall and a river cruise for sunset was a great way to end our first day of exploring Victoria Falls.
