#TRAVEL My Weekly Powerup | #club100 | Making art out of sand in Kristiansand, Norway | #steemexclusive / 6 photos
As you see on the photos above, an artist was still working, creating part of this unusual art exhibition. Usually, we can read about the artists in our local newspaper. I haven’t managed to find out who the artist or artists are this year.
I did spend some time looking at this one, to figure out the meaning. The two figures are definitly on two different sides – the good and the evil – with an empty human in the middle...
When the artists start working, they do that with a mix of sand and water. The amount of sand they use is approx. 250 tons. Quite a pile of sand where the artist freely can experiment and create amazing art. It is obvious that they use sand and water. But in order to withstand rain and wind, I think the surface must be covered with something that makes them resistant to rain and wind.
These sculptures don’t last for a long time. They are short-lived. They are made in end of June / beginning of July but destroyed in the beginning of august. But they are admired by both locals and tourists as long as they last.

It is absolutely amazing what these guys can do.
One year, there was a guy from Nigeria on the main beach in Plettenberg Bay who actually sculpted your head for you.
It took him about 2 hours. He was not cheap, but people stood for ages to get it done.
Wow! that is amazing! I should like to see an artist sculpturing my head! I imagine that sculpturing in sand might not be that easy....
The terrible thing is that tomorrow it is gone... (•ิ‿•ิ)
Shortlived art....
