During the first two weeks of 2025, we have had some snow, followed by freezing temperatures. Last Sunday was one of those nice days with minus 8 degrees and no wind. It was a sunny day., which made it a lovely experience to go out for walks. My Sunday walk went to Bertes Bukta / Bay of Bertes on the outskirts of Kristiansand. I met many people on my walk. Even though it was cold, it was lovely.

Our coast does not have many long, white sandy beaches. Most of the bathing places have mountains in the background. When you go swimming you have to jump off a rock or, as here in Bertes, jump into the water. There is also plenty of bird life. Gulls, ducks and swans. When it is winter and there is ice on the water, they sometimes come right up to the pier. The swan flock was close to a small bay. They came close when I approached. When they realized I was not interested, they changed course and swam away.

After a pretty good walk around the entire area, I turned around and went back the same way. The sun was setting and it would soon be dark. When I passed the diving board and saw the two standing at the top, I thought it would be a good idea. From the top you have a good view. It didn't happen this day, as these two stood up here for far too long, but maybe it would be nice to take the trip up another time. Winter does make the beach look different.
