Introduction
First of all, I wish to appreciate our dear mother @ngoenyi for this contest and I'm looking forward to read from other fellow ladies to enable me learn new remedies and hopefully, others will also learn from my entry.
Truly, we are surrounded by different herbs for different remedies but we might not be aware which is why I love this contest as it will expose a lot of remedies to some minor health challenges.
Today, I will be taking out of experience over 5 different plants which are
- Chaya (Hospital Is Too Far)
- Neem (Dogo yaro)
- Pawpaw
- Mahogany
- Acalypha Wilkesiana
CHAYA (Hospital Is Too Far)
Chaya plant popularly known as hospital is too far is an edible vegetable planted in the garden.
It can be used to cook food but for the sake of this contest, let me stick to the rule.
It is a blood tonic that can be used to boost the blood vessels.
How do you use them?
First of all, you harvest the leaves from the plant, wash under running water with salt then squeeze out the juice.
After that, sieve the juice and throw away the chaff then add liquid mild and malt drink into the extracted juice.
Stir with a table spoon and drink.
It works like magic in boosting the blood.
Everyone is eligible to use it and I have no record of side effects so far but the only warning is be careful not to touch the milky liquid coming out of the plant while harvesting because it's itchy.
NEEM (Dogo Yaro)
This is a household name in Nigeria.
Neem leaves are naturally bitter are used to treat typhoid and the tiny stem are used as chewing stick to brush the teeth.
How do you use it?
It can be used alone but because of the bitterness, so many people prefer adding other plants like guava, mango, orange, etc while boiling it.
And on how to use it, first of all after cutting the leaves, wash under running water, place inside a pot and add water then heat to 100 degrees.
Afterwards, bring down to cool off then you scoop the water and drink twice a day and you will surely kiss typhoid goodbye for some time.
Everyone can take it as I haven't heard of any side effects since I know neem.
PAWPAW LEAVES (Papaya)
Pawpaw is a tropical plant that has been in existence for a very long time.
It's fruits can be eaten while the roots are used to cure whitlow by digging the root and washing it. Then pound it, paste it on the affected finger and tied with a cloth.
Next morning, you will be surprise of how the mucus will gather then you burst it and wash the finger. That's all.
As for the leaves, it can be used with other leaves like mango, guava, neem, etc to cure typhoid after boiling it..
It can be used for everyone in the household and there is no record of side so far.
In my experience so far, I only have positive experiences that why I still use them.
MAHOGANY
Mahogany is one of the economic trees used for strong and reliable wood.
But there is something beautiful about the bark of the tree.
It is highly medicinal.
How do you use it?
Both dried and fresh bark of mahogany tree serves same purpose. It stops running stomach.
How? Cut the bark, rinse and soak in a clean cup, add a little drinking water to it and allow to soak for 2 hours and drink small potion and you can kiss stomachache goodbye.
Most times, you soak it ahead when you know you will be eating slot of junks.
It is only eligible for adults but not for kids under 10 years.
It is worthy to note that a mature mahogany bark is bitter which makes it effective.
So when next you want to use the plant, look for a big mature plant.
The only side effect is you don't take more than 5 table spoon at a time because it can cause constipation.
Acalypha Wilkesiana
Acalypha wilkesiana is used for landscaping and only few know about it's wonder.
Many people use it for beautification without the knowledge of the power it carries.
How did I know?
Well, about 6 years ago, a friend came to my area to look for it because she knows how people uses flowers in my area.
Out of curiosity, I asked her why she was desperately looking for it and I got to know it can be used for kids to cure jedijedi
Jedijedi is a common sickness among infants that eats up their skins causing it to be reddish and painful. It also makes then have constant watering stool and restless.
Many mothers can attest to that.
My dear ladies, this plant did wonders
How to use it.
Get a handful of the leaves, wash and boil to 100 degrees, allow to cool down then give 1 table spoon of the liquid 3 times a day and watch your baby heal from that dreaded disease.
