INTRODUCTION

Hello beautiful ladies of Steemwomen Club. I bring you warm greetings from Nigeria my mother land.

I trust we're all doing well.

I have really missed you all and @steemit as a body but thanks be to God who keeps giving us new opportunities every morning.

So, to the business of the day.

I am in so much pain as a result of all the news flying around in my country right now and I needed to pour out the content of my heart since crying has not been of any help.💔💔💔

Women, mothers, ladies and sisters are being injured and majority of them die from the injuries inflicted on them by those they call husbands who claim to love and cherish them so much.

These women are not just newly Weds but have spent over ten years in their marriages. These Angels died prematurely, in their primes.

Within two weeks, we've lost three prominent women (the ones that the causes of their death were disclosed) to the cold hands of death by their husbands.

To the male folks who indulge in this; I ask,

  1. Is injurying or killing your spouse your own way of showing love and affection??

  2. Is that the protection and respect you promised them at the beginning?

  3. Did they commit crimes by saying yes to you and giving up everything to go with you?

  4. Have you helped them achieve their dreams by killing them?

  5. What have you achieved by your evil act?

  6. Did you ever think of the pains they went through to birth and nurture your children?

  7. Would you do the same to your own sister or daughter?

  8. What are the contributing factors to your wickedness that you could not control?

What exactly is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence is intimidation, it's both verbal (use of words), physical (use of hands, legs, fists, objects, weapons etc) and emotional abuse.

IMG_20220411_175048.jpg

It is derogatory and traumatic. It's now an epidemic. It's a life-threatening act. It's not new to the society we live in.

It takes place in all sectors of the society. It is every acts of violence in families and relationships.

Domestic violence is presently the major cause of death and injuries to women and children all over the world.

I hear that men also suffer it but 95% of females suffer from this on daily basis and unfortunately, we have lost lots of sweet souls to this epidemic or do I call it a pandemic 🤔🤔.

It doesn't respect your status 🥺🥺. It's everywhere, from the career women to housewives, from the literates to the illiterates, from the religious to the non-religious, from the singles of all ages to the married.

It comes in various forms such as physical abuse, emotional abuse and financial abuse.

I will talk about all of them together:

How to recognize these forms of abuse or the characteristics of of these abuse;

  1. Your spouse is extremely jealous.

  2. He monitors your moves or phones and relationships.

  3. He cheats on you with other ladies. This one alone is traumatic and emotionally destructive.

  4. Stopping you from school or working so as to be totally dependent on him; thus making you have no say and unable to make decisions on your own.

  5. Stalking which is closely followed by harassment and embarrassment.

  6. Slapping, pushing, throwing of objects, punching, shoving, grabbing, destroying valuable objects or even threatening to kill or deal with you..

  7. Strangling.

  8. Sexual abuse.

  9. Yelling, name calling or mocking.

  10. Attacking or threatening to attack with a weapon.

  11. Totally depending on or controlling your finances. To mention but a few.

Prior to now, domestic violence was attributed to disobedience or nagging from women and most times we (women) try to justify and cover up these actions all in the name of building our homes and protecting our marriages or even believing and praying for the man to change.
Change is constant; Yes but not when your life is at stake here.

Is Domestic violence some kind of therapy that you have to undergo pains, torture and grief while dying in silence??

Unfortunately, a lot of us don't live to tell the story 🥺🥺🥺.

My sister, abuse no be love oooo. It is pure evil and God hates evil.

Dangers of Domestic Violence

  1. Death

  2. Low self-esteem

  3. No source of income. He makes totally dependent on him. At his mercy.

  4. Lack of exposure to information.

  5. Presence of scares on the body.

  6. Deformity.

  7. Stigmatization.

  8. Suicidal attempts.

  9. Alcohol abuse.

  10. Depression. The list is unending...

My own take and advise to myself and my fellow women:

√ Submission, the word of God says is our duty to our husbands but it is not slavery.

√ Do not keep abuse to yourself. Speak out. Don't stay quiet in an abusive marriage or relationship. Don't stop talking.

IMG_20220411_184027.jpg

√ Are you worried about your children? It's worth it but take a bold step to save yourself first, then you can go back to get your children.
These children would suffer because the life of their mother was cut short by their unreasonable father.
They will never get your love or protection. You can only take care of them if you are alive, healthy and kicking.

√ Never you think of what the world would say. Whether you're alive or dead, the world would definitely talk. You should have a home and not confined to a prison.

√ On a very important note, do not advise anyone who speaks up about domestic violence to stay and manage. Rather help

them to get justice or at least acquire some level of peace.

√ Do your best to be empowered financially so that you can take care of some of your needs. We're lucky that @Steemitblog has given us this opportunity. May God bless the @Steemitblog crew abundantly.

We must wise up and learn very fast so that no one would take us for granted.
Let us all arise and shine Oh beautiful women.

My precious Mum ( God rest her soul) would always tell us that; Yes! No body can advise us more than we can advise ourselves.

May God help us to be wise and to stay safe in our various homes.

To the male folks: Please, stop the abuse. We have our dreams and aspirations to achieve before God calls us home.

I will conclude with this quote from one woman that I look up to a lot:

The Covenant of Life is Superior to the Covenant of Marriage. Funke Felix-Adejumo.

May God rest the soul of Sister Osinachi Nwachukwu and the souls of all women that have been sent to their early graves through domestic violence. Amen😭😭😭

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I love and cherish you a lot.

This is so pathetic dear. Domestic Violence is animalistic. I feel pity for the victims. Thank you for sharing.

It's pure evil, Mummy @ngoenyi.

Our women are dying even while living.

May God give us understanding to handle these problems.

Thank you so much, Mummy for visiting my blog.

I cannot agree more! Stop domestic violence!
I call on all women to speak up not only for her but also for her children!

Exactly Ma'am @patjewell.

Some of these men go as far as telling their male children that it's the right thing to do.
Now, these children would grow up with this wicked mindset and do worse than their fathers.

May God give us understanding.

Thank you so much Ma'am, for your contribution.

It is so sad!!! :-(

Violence is and will be recriminated, it happens to any woman in the whole world. As women we must love ourselves more and not be silent for our children. Take good care and blessings.

It's now an issue of increasing concern all over the world.

May God help us to make life saving decisions.

Thank so much for visiting my blog, sweet Sis @helemsa

It's so 😭😭 sad that domestic violence is the order of the day now, my heart goes out to those women and their love ones, truly I personally can't endure this for a day. But we can do something in our own little way, that's teaching our son what love and respect means. Thanks for sharing this valuable contents with us here.

Thank you so much, Momma.

The fact is that we should stop training only our daughters.
Right now, our sons need more training so as combact this menace.

Thank you so much for your contribution, @goodybest Ma'am.
