STEEM WOMEN CLUB COMMUNITY: Chain Of Goodness Event| Help for the poor farmers at Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda
It all started 4 years ago.
My husband Michael and I were in Uganda for the first time.
We are backpackers, only book the flight and then travel the country on our own.
We stayed for a few days in a hotel that also had a school and so we had the opportunity to come into contact with the children.
Back in Germany we had to think about it again and again and decided to start a small collection campaign to buy beds for the school.
We were able to finance 13 double beds and that is actually what it should have been.
But as so often in life, things turn out differently than you think ...
One child became seriously ill and would have died in a good hospital without an operation.
We collected and the boy's life could be saved.
Somehow we kept going. We have had our own project there for 3 years.
We collect money and whenever € 100 is raised, a poor farming family
who has neither light nor water in their house gets a small solar system.
So we bring light!
Around 200 families have received such a system in the past few years.
In between we deviate a little from time to time.
We paid medical bills, medication, school fees and bought groceries for 6 months last year because the circumstances that the Corona brought with it resulted in hunger.
Last november we even built a new house for a family.
Her old one was destroyed by a landslide.
We are not an association, just a couple who want to help.
However, we couldn't do all of this if not many other people would support us again and again.
We are very grateful.
I wrote down our story and if you are interested, you can take a look here:
