in SteemWomen Club3 years ago

It's evening here, good evening pretty ladies. I trust everyone is doing great? I'm @delighdear. Thank you steem women club for this great opportunity to show case our local dresses. I got so excited when i saw this contest, the topic itself is very attractive, so i immediately grab this opportunity to drop my first post here. I am a Nigerian, so i want to showcase our traditional attires. Like other countries, my country is known for her rich cultural heritage, our local dresses are superb.

This is my sister using the traditional attire of Edo state on her marriage introduction. Though she is not from Edo but she decided to be different on her big day. On her head is a bead worth #2000, the ones on the neck, shoulder and wrist were sold differently. We got them at the rate of #10,000. This is not the actual price for it but since we bought from a family friend she decided to give us at a discounted rate. That thing she is holding is called Ntang Enang, it is mostly used by chiefs in Igbo land . The Igbos are tribes located in the southeast of Nigeria. We got the Ntang Enang at #5000 still from that family friend. Her lace wrapper was #40,000.

This is still Edo attire but this one is the complete Edo traditional attire. The difference is the beads on her head, the one on her neck and the colour of the wrapper. She rocking it very well because she is from there and she is well acquainted with their tradition, my sister only borrowed. Her head bead was #2000, the beads on her neck and wrist was #5000 both for her little girl. To have these is a little expensive and besides it is not an attire we use regularly but occasionally, so we rented them rather than buying. Her wrapper was #30,000 excluding transport fee.

My in-law using our own traditional attire: the Ibibios. What he has on his head is called Ukat, it is a traditional hat worn on occasions and it is mostly used by our village chiefs, on his neck is the Okpomkpon. The top he is wearing is called chieftaincy, while the one on his west is called Usobo, then esan ( walking stick). The hat (Ukat) was #3000, the chieftaincy #10,000, the Usobo #3000 with the okpomkpon, then the walking stick was #20,000. We were actually going to a friend's traditional marriage in one of the local government in my state(Akwa Ibom), Akwa Ibom is located in the Southsouth of Nigeria.

This is Igbo's traditional attire for marriage ceremony, this is actually one of them because they have many traditional attires for different outing during marriage ceremony. My friend picked this one out of many others. The Igbos are known for this particular colour(red), very rare for an Igbo man or woman to exclude red colour from his or her colour of the day. The bead on her head was done by a friend at #3000, the ones on the neck and ear was #3000, the traditional hand fan was #8000, her dress was #25000.

Complete Ibibio traditional attire for marriage , although it can be worn by other tribes but the ibibios are known for this attire. Unlike my sister, this one decided to showcase our tribe on her big day. The headtie(gele) was bought at the rate of #3000, her dress was #40,000, then the walking stick #20,000.

Wow! This is really an interesting one, i really enjoy participating in this contest, it gives me the opportunity to talk a little about our attires. Thank you steem women club for this honour.
