The Diary Game|| Testing Of Soil Samples To Determine The Concentration Of Gold In The Laboratory || 13-05-2022||

I'm here to share with you the activities I performed today.
Today has been almost the same for me.
I woke up around 5:00am and observed morning prayers as usual, after that , I slept again and woke up around 7:00am to prepare for work.
I finished the preparation around 7:30 and joined my colleagues who were waiting for me and we all walked to the workplace which is about a 10 to 15 minutes walk. When we got to the workplace, we had our breakfast and we started work.
We started work around 8:00am. I work with a small scale mining company as a laboratory technician. All I do is to test for concentration of gold in soil samples.
I started work by weighing 20g of soil samples into different crucibles and putting them into a muffle stove which is about 700°c for 2 hours. When the 2 hours were up, I removed them and then transferred them into different conical flasks, I added 80mm of HCL and HNO₃ and I heated them on a hot plate for about 15minutes.
When it is done I then add a little water and put in foam (which is 1g weight and about 10cm long) which has been soaked for 2 days. I then shaked them in the oscillator for an hour. After that I washed the foam, put them in different test tubes which contained 25mm of thiourea, water and HCL. I heated them in a water bath for 30minutes. I then squeeze the foams and remove them from their respective test tubes.
They were then ready to determine the amount of concentration of gold in the samples. I did it using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS).
I closed from work around 4:30pm. This brings to the end of my activities. Thank you for your love and support.
