THE DIARY GAME : 10/08/2021 : STEEMIANS VISIT THE TONO IRRIGATION DAM PROJECT AT THE UPPER EAST REGION OF GHANA
Greetings everyone,
Today I was able to pay a visit to the Tono irrigation dam at the Upper East Region of Ghana. This project was started way back in the 1900's. This was because there was no sustainable means of water supply in the area. This made the government to set up this project to help the people get a good source of water supply for both domestic use and irrigation purposes.
I visited the place with a few friends of mine including @silencewan, @farhmade, @abdulhalim100 and @kasib07. We made plans for this since the previous week so we had it in mind all along. We gathered in front of one of the hostels and took a candoo to that place.
We left around 2 pm and started making our way towards the Navrongo main road. This was about a third of the trip already. There was no traffic on the road so we got there in about 20 minutes.
The area is quite vast and it doesn't really surprise me that they chose that location for the dam project. I quickly made sure to get some nice sunset pictures before anything else.
We then drew closer to the platform that is used to gain access to the dam itslef. This is also a good spot to enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean as people are fishing and also admire the view of cloud as well.
We then decided to draw closer to the dam and enjoy the cool breeze it has to offer. This is one of the main places we can find enticing at the area.
It was a beautiful trip all round. I wish we get to do this more often. Thank you for your attention.
