Father’s Day: A short read

“Honor they father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise” Ephesians 6:2

Father’s Day is a National celebration to honor our fathers and show appreciation for the love shown to us right from birth.
Unfortunately, fathers don’t receive this massive recognition just as mothers and this has sparked a conversation on fatherhood all over the world.
Father’s Day is recognized just as Mother’s Day but some people don’t look forward to day set aside for fathers.
On Mother’s Day, most of us able are in a hurry to post pictures of their mothers or mother figures in their lives on all social media platforms and eagerness to get them gifts or give them treats. That’s not the case on Father’s Day. Some people feel awkward showing their love and appreciation for their fathers anyway possible and instead wanting to the day to end so quickly and I believe this is as a result of the poor relationships they have with their fathers.
Though I’m not a father..yet, fathers play a major role in our lives and sometimes have to sacrifice the love for pain. They grow through a lot of difficulties just put clothes on our backs, put food on the table and get us whatever we want. I guess they’re unable to hide the pain which then transcend or reflect on their behavior towards us. Most fathers aren’t build to show so much love and affection to their children and as a result push these children away from them. A few children are able to understand the struggle and therefore, show their love and appreciation on Father’s Day.
I know most of us don’t have the type of love for our fathers and find it so hard relating with them. It’s understandable. But as the Bible requires of us we are to appreciate them just as our mothers. You will be surprised the relief it gives them when we appreciate them littlest of ways. It relieves them of mental torture and emotional pain whereas makes them realize the need to show the love back.
So today let’s show the love and appreciate our fathers no matter the situation. Let’s take them out on a treat. Buy them gifts. Pray for them for divine strength and breakthroughs. Or a telling them, “Happy Father’s Day” will go a long way of putting a smile on their faces.
