Hello everyone, I hope we are all doing good. Today I am here with a post on reproductive health which is mainly about Menstruation. I know most of us would always be disgusted just by hearing it, but through education and been educated, we realized it was a compulsory process for us to not go extinct and is a very important phase for every female to pass through and this process is menstruation.

what is menstruation?

Menstruation is a monthly breakdown of a female uterus wall, the uterine wall is what houses an egg from the ovaries which is also been shed with it.

Menstruation happens when an egg is not fertilized by a sperm or to put it in a more simply way, when what we called pregnancy does not occur.

This process usually happens monthly in every female starting from the ages of 12 years and is stopped by a phenomenon called menopause which is at the ages of 45and above years.

From what I have stated above, you will notice the importances of this process since it plays a major role in the life of every human (be it a man or woman).

This process shows that eggs that are have not been fertilized will be discharged and new ones will then replace them.

Menstrual Cycle

Menstrual cycle is a term which is used to describe the series of events that happens when menstruation beings to start to the next menstruation period. The average day it takes this to happen is usually 28 days but can sometimes persist to up to 35 days. These events are caused by the release of hormones in females body

  • Menses Phase: This is the time when blood flows from the female reproductive part (vagina) as a result of an egg not being fertilized by a sperm. This can last for 5 days and can sometimes last to about two weeks.

  • Follicular Phase: This is the phase where the lining of the uterus recovers from the shedding and thicken. This is also a time when the eggs starts to develop.

  • Ovulation Phase: Ovulation occurs after the uterine wall has recovered and the egg is developed. At this Phase, a hormone is released to stimulate the release of the developed egg to receive a sperm for conception.

  • Luteal Phase: This is the phase whereby a released egg from the ovaries begins to move through the fallopian tube to journey to the uterus. Since the uterus has been preparing in anticipation for a sperm to fertilize the egg that is released, it awaits the fertilized egg to attach itself to the uterine wall and if does not, then the Menstrual Cycle begins again.

From the above explained, an individual can see the importances of menstruation and should embrace females that go through it rather than stigmatize them or look at them with disgust.

I know a lot of boys are rather interested in the safe period ladies due to that some boys can even tell a girl’s menstrual cycle. What does a safe period mean, a safe period is a time when there is no developed egg to receive any sperm for fertilization. This happens right after the Menses Phase and the probability of getting pregnant at that time is very low.

Once an egg is been released, it can survive for about 24hours and the sperm can also survive up to 5 or more days.

There intake of contraceptives only delay the release of the egg or it sometimes slows down it’s journey in the fallopian tube. It can also slow down the movement of sperm, which causes it to exhausts its lifespan before having the chance to fertilize an egg. This is why it is very bad to always take into our systems a lot of contraceptives

This is all I have for menstruation on reproductive health. I hope you enjoyed reading through and I hope you learnt for this piece of information. Thank you for your time.
