Inside Pragya |

Using the tricycle popularly known by the Ghanaian man as "pragya" or "Okada" these days has become a common form of transport within short distances. People like this form of transports, because they think it is the easiest and the cheapest way to get to the various locations. But the question we should ask ourselves is, is it the safest way of transport?

Most times, on my way to town from the campus junction, I often prefer the "pragya" to the taxi, because it is the cheapest. It has a lot of ventilation. But the question that hit me often is that, why I do only young boys use pragya? They are the ones who are mostly seen around this area driving them. And these forms of transport has a lot of sales at the end of the day than the taxis. This tell how people purchase the pragya form of transport.

The young boys, mostly below the age of 18years often drive them. They are most times reckless on the road. But what can be done. Do they drive them due to hardship? The prices of fuel are rising and that is the easiest and cheapest. Most times, the driver of the pragya sit together with someone on the front seat. This makes steering very difficult for the driver, but they do not care because they also make monies from those who use their seat with them. They done care if it is dangerous. One's it fetches money for them, they do not care. It becomes very heartbreaking and serious if you find yourself in such a transport.

Most times, because they do not have the license to use the pragya, they try to use dubious means to get on the road such as bribery. They at times use only one hand to hold the steer, forgetting that they hold the life of passengers. They also have loud speakers in their machines, which hinders them from hearing upcoming warnings and dangers. This is a great threat to our roads. They like to over speed on road. Some end up in accident which is very common here at Nsuta.

Roads and Highway Authority must check on these drivers to make sure they are sound before they can be allowed to use the machine. Drivers must meet the required age and should have their necessary license. Our life is precious and so, we must keep it safe. Don't leave life to any reckless driver. Stay safe on the road.
Thank you for your time
I am so scared of pragya, it is so vulnerable to other vehicles on the road and you are susceptible to serious injury on the road too. Stay safe bro, try to get taxi than pragya
