The Holy Month Of Giving Is Here. We Fast From.....

Dear steemians,

Today marks the first day of fasting for us Muslims in this country and it is a very important day for us all. This is because this is a holy month of Ramadan in which only good deeds are encouraged amongst ourselves and that of our fellow brothers in Islam.

As stated in the Holy Qur'an, this is an important day for us all whereby we make it a point to refrain from every form of sin out there and only focus on the good deeds. These include; only telling the truth, loving your neighbor as yourself, helping the poor and needy and praying on time.

In Islam, these are acts that are encouraged in the holy month of Ramadan as we are to stay far away from sinning as possible.

It is stated in the Holy Quran (Chapter 2 verse 183) that we shall fast in order to be able to attain our ultimate goal of righteousness. This is clearly seen in the acts that are permitted in this holy month as well as the ones which are abolished.

I am quite hopeful that by the time this month of fasting comes to an end, I would have really been able to obtain a great attitude and a strong character which I would hope to carry with me for the rest of the year till the next fasting begins.

I think it is wrong that people tend to rather forget the purpose of fasting itself and assume that it is only for one month. They usually build a good character and then forget all about it once the 30 days is over.

I hope we are able to abstain from all sorts of negativity in this month and the months to come.
