Am very glad this morning cost am here to share with you our festival celebrated by Dagombas in the Northern part of Ghana.

Historically the Bugum chugu( fire festival) is one of the oldest festival of the Dagombas, it dates as far back as the 15th century. When Naa zoligu was the king of Dagbon.

Naa zoligu is the 7th YAA-NAA right from Naa Shitobu to have ascended the Gbewaa skin ,His reign lasted from around 1469 to 1486 During his reign his first grandson ,Naa Darishehu was taken by a group of dwarfs,when he followed his father Naa zog and brothers to farm.

All effort to trace the whereabouts of Naa Naa zoligu favourite grandson proved futile .
NAA Zoligu however insisted that Naa Darishehu be found.since the sootsayers have informed him consistently that his grandson was alive and well.

     IN SEARCH FOR THE PRINCE

The search for Naa Darishehu became a ritual as they searched for him day and night into dangerous forests.

Due to the danger associated with this mission everyman came out fully prepared and armed to face any eventuality.

    HE CAME OUT FULLY PREPARED

During the night they will light torches from thatch ro enable them find their way ,
Finally the little boy was found sleeping under a tree.

The search party who believe that the tree was a spiritual tree which was by the dwarfs to hide the boy from from them used their torches to burn fown ghe tree whiles some broke its branches for ritual purposes
Amidst drumming and dancing the search team returned the boy home and this very incident intiated a festival which will last through ages till this day and beyond.
