Just us we are expecting in a game like the champions league, the surprises was just few and and the known happened.

Some few surprises and the use of the semi-automated offside calls for the first time made it a special one. Here are few of the matches I will be tackling.

  • Dinamo Zagreb 1:0 Chelsea

There was no doubt about how this game was going to end, but I guess it cause the majority by surprise after the full ninety minutes with Zagreb leading the blues by a goal to nail.

The blues did not start on a good note although their new signings Pierre-Emerick Aubamenyang had his first game for the blues. A swift counter attack from the home side was not able to be defended by the visitors resulting in a clean cut goal. Although the performance of the away side increased in the second half, it could not yield into a goal.

  • Celtic 0:3 Real Madrid

How this game ended was no surprise to any of us however it was the fault of the home side to have lost this game. The had several scoring opportunities if which none yielded positive. It was quiet unfortunate that the away side striker Karim Benzema had to be sent off the pitch with an injury.

Right into the second half, the white angels positively responded to the home side continues threat to Junior. The midfielder Modric also added one making it Real Madrid second of the day. The formal Chelsea star Eden Hazard then kill it with his unforgettable goal.

  • Sevilla 0:4 Manchester City

It seems there is no day he will play without scoring for his new club. Haaland continue his impressive performance by scoring a simple goal that was made and prepared by the midfield giant De Bruyne which is usually called tap in.

Foden and young star was also able to find his way through the Sevilla defender at the middle of the game and fortunately found the back of the net making it 2 for the visitors. Another short from this same gentleman this time around saved by the Goalkeeper but Haaland was once again fortunate to have been there of which he then converted it into goal giving him his brace. Dias then kill it all by converting a cross that was floated in.

  • PSG 2:1 Juventus

At the park de prince, it is not surprise to see this results coming from there. A skillful Neymer was able to flick a very great ball pass all the defenders from the Italian side making it clear for the France stare Mbappe to covert the floated ball. The same instance happened creating a very good chance for the France international once again where he converted it giving him his second on the day.

The Italian side did their maximum effort by creating some numbers of chances, pushing more men forward and changing his tactics. In doing all this they were able to find a consolation goal making the game to end in a 2:1 win in favour of the home side.

Conclusion

It was a great night of football watching players to exhibit their capabilities in the field of soccer. It is my hope that those who couldn't win will be able to do better in their subsequent games in other to win their games.

I personally had the opportunity to watch the game between Zagreb and Chelsea. It was lack of pace that causes their down fall. Just us you said, the counter was quick and the defenders of Chelsea couldn't stop the striker with his speed. it was normal that the Keeper couldn't have done anything about the goal.

Juventus I believe could have done much better than what they did. They had a lot of great opportunities they could have equalize in the second half however they missed. I hope they make use of those opportunities in their home grounds.

Real Madrid had it so nice and as you said, Benzema absence resulted in three goals then assuming his presence. I believe it could have been more than three.

Thanks for sharing.

A swift counter attack from the home side was not able to be defended by the visitors resulting in a clean cut goal

The lack of pace of Fofana was the cause of that goal. Even though I don’t attribute all the blame to him as Koulibaly can be blamed too. But at least when he reached Chelsea’s box Fofana should have looked to protect the box rather he insisted on following the player.

All in all, I think it was simple football basics which were missing from the Chelsea squad.

The had several scoring opportunities if which none yielded positive

I am a big time Madrid fan and I’ve become used to our display. I have come in terms with the fact that no matter the teams we play they will always have opportunities against us and that what I like about us😂.

I want to see who can outscore the other; and I always have the full vhim that we can outscore the opponent(no matter who it is)

At the park de prince, it is not surprise to see this results coming from there.

This result doesn’t impress me at all. I expected Juve to get a thrashing after that brilliant performance from PSG in the first half. I still think Juve have a chance against psg at the Allianz arena and I am backing them to win the return leg.

The thing with psg is that they are always good when it comes to the league but when it comes to the big stage they tend to loose their cool.

You are absolutely right, they missed the discipline which was provided to them by Rudiger. No doubt about the fact that they missed the simple basics of the game.

Yes Madrid were good on the upfront although Benzema was not present. I would have wandered how many they will score if he was there.

You are right, juve still have the chance at their home and I hope they will turn things around as United did to PSG some few years ago.

Thanks for passing by.

Yes and we must add that they missed the leadership of Silva at the back too.

Oh the good old days. Each time I remember the coma back United did against psg at their home I feel super excited 😂. I remember how I didn’t want psg to qualify from that stage and United perfomed the miracle.

I can see the jealousy as a Madrid fan against PSG. Anyway it was excellent game
