THE DRUG BARON, PABLO EMILIO GAVIRIA ESCOBAR.
Hi fellow steemians, hope you guys are doing well. It's another brand new day, and I want to share with you the story of Pablo Escobar.
Pablo Emilio Gaviria Escobar.
Born, December 1, 1949 at Rionegro, Colombia.
Died, 2 December 1993 in Medellin, Colombia.
His parents moved to Envigado a suburb of Medellin in Colombia.
His father was a farmer, while the mother was a school teacher. While he was a teenager, he began a life of crime. He started his criminal activities by smuggling stereo equipment, stealing tombstone to sell, stealing cars, selling fake diplomas etc.
He was first arrested in 1974, as a result of stealing cars. During the mid 1970s, Escobar involved in the smuggling of drugs. He later formed his own organisation which was known as Medellin Cartel. Some of his partners includes, Juan David, Jorge Luis, and Fabio. The purpose of this organisation was to produce, transfer and sell cocaine.
During the 1980s, his organisation (Medellin Cartel) dominated the cocaine trade, which made him gain more power and wealth. Escobar owned an estate called Hacienda Nàpoles. The estate was having a zoo, soccer field, dinosaur statue, a tennis court, artificial lake,an airstrip etc. Upon all his criminal act, he funded many projects to help the poor. Through this, he won an election to an alternate seat in Colombia's congress in 1982.
Pablo Escobar started killing some government officials, policemen and civilians. He was jailed, but was able to escape from the police custody in July 1992. Colombian government with the help of the U S government and other rival drug traffickers launched a manhunt. He was been discovered a day after his birthday in 1993, at Medellin. The Colombian forces chased him, shot him, which he couldn't manage to escape again and died.
Arguably, Pablo Escobar and his organisation (Medellin Cartel) was the most powerful drug traffickers in the 1980s and early 1990s.
